Actor and director Ben Affleck is about to make a film that will explore the making of Roman Polanski’s ancient police novel “Chinatown”.
The film, mounted on Paramount, is based on Sam Wasson’s book, “The Great Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood,” which premiered in February this year, Variety reported.
Nonfiction tells the behind-the-scenes story of the 1974 film, starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway.
“Chinatown” followed a personal detective (Nicholson) who is hired through a woman (Dunaway) to divulge her deceptive husband, the investigation throws the IP into a proverbial web of deception.
Film buffs still don’t forget about the film for its rotating ending, which had a big impact on audiences at the time.
Affleck, 47, will also produce the film with Lorne Michaels, author of “Saturday Night Live”.
The actor went on to star in the mental mystery “Deep Water” and “The Last Duel” by Ridley Scott.
