Denice Nortez is an actress who has made her mark on several vintage films, Sidney Lumet directed it in The Wiz, worked with Joel Schumacher on the film Flawless with Robert De Niro and as a singer played with the Mongo Santamaria Orchestra, which celebrated his Cuban culture. In addition to acting, she has considered herself a storyteller. “I’ve spent my whole career looking for tactics to tell my stories,” Nortez says.
Six years ago, he met someone who worked at a radio station. “I was so excited to sit with him,” Nortez says, “but he just asked her a question. “Who is your target audience?” She was disappointed, even a little angry. “I feel like they’re all my audience,” he shares. ” I want to tell my stories to everyone. Why do I want an express hearing? I told myself that this guy knew clearly what I was talking about, but I was frustrated. “
Even though he was looking for percentages of his stories, he didn’t think he had the equipment to make them his own, so he let his dream go by. However, two days after the start of the pandemic, he felt a strong need to put his stories on a podcast and tell them his way. I was very interested in placing them in a position where she would be in charge. “I kept looking to be hired for someone else’s vision. But I even thought, “I have to put my vision on video and on a podcast. “
Nortez considers herself miles away from technology. “The technical side has been out of my reach,” he says, “especially making videos through me. “However, she was thinking about how to create bands for auditions, so when the pandemic occurred, they encouraged her to use the time to examine Google’s YouTube tutorials on how to create videos, and she became creative.
“At first, I had no idea what those tutorials were about,” Nortez says. However, although she was so discouraged, she also thought she would see those tutorials until something penetrated.
Nortez sitting in front of your computer with a battery of plugs. She looked at the tutorials on her computer table to see all the buttons pressed. “I used the cards as small cards, circles and arrows to draw what I intended to do,” he says. When I got lost or didn’t notice something, I would take a step back and start over. “He spent some time meticulously researching anything that needed more detail. “There were a lot of stops and exits,” he says. He took careful notes on Final Cut Pro X, iMovie, YouTube and asked for a microphone.
Gradually, increasingly, he understood the tutorial videos. She also thought it wasn’t a challenge not to be perfect. “I knew the videos I created didn’t live up to my criteria, but if I expected that to happen, I knew nothing would,” she says. After making several videos, Nortez was also attracted to making her podcast paintings. She discovered that she had already learned the equipment to produce and edit an audio recording herself.
Nortez relied heavily on his new abilities. “Apart from YouTube videos, I learned how you want an advent or advent, the story in the middle and an ending called “post roll”. He recorded his exhibitions and added music. And with that, she had a podcast, Denice Nortez, Close-Up where she tells stories about her life and her career as an actress that lasted several decades. Her husband, Michael Wiener, is the inspiration for many on his YouTube channel, he tells Bible stories. “The stories I share are very comforting,” Nortez says. When I was a kid, Bible stories taught me all about other people and human behavior. “
Benez looks at these stories out of convenience and spirituality, so that others feel a sense of peace. “Many other people who hear about others who love the Bible think about the kind of other people who are prudish and isolated. But I see The biblical stories are incredibly dramatic, terrifying and even incredibly funny, surely funny. After all, the stories are about humans and allow us to be real. People are fun. ‘
If Nortez can say something to her young self, she thinks about what other people have been telling her for many years, that she deserves to create things herself. “I just didn’t believe them, ” he said. I was waiting for someone to rent me. I thought that was the way to get acting roles. In fact, I think only large film corporations like Paramount or MGM were the solution. “
But with its new dynamic spirit, Nortez feels unstoppable, with his podcast or acting paintings or with the independent film TriBeCa Sandwich, directed through Patrizia Iuliucci, produced through 7E Entertainment. “People like me can get acting roles by doing productions with talented collaborators,” he says. I need to convey that enthusiasm to other artists. “
