Have you ever made the mistake of watching a horror movie before bed?
One night in early March, I was in a position to turn off the lights and made the mistake of reading an article that was my edition of a bad movie. He tormented me, then he taught me. This turned out to be prophetic. Andy Crouch and some colleagues wrote “Leading Beyond the Blizzard.” You read it, but not just before you go to bed.
Basically, the authors asked, “Is the pandemic going to be a disturbance that looks like a heavy snowfall (lasting about a week), a long winter (a disaster for a few months) or a mini ice age (uh oh)? . They predicted that we would consider a mini ice age. In other words, they think we weren’t looking for an ultra-fast recovery. We would not consider an occasion that would have lasted only the summer Rather, we would face a very rare scenario that would profoundly affect the labour market over the next 12 to 18. Six months after THE launch of COVID, I would say they had a vision for the future.
They added that those who mini-ice age will be the ones who will temporarily reorganize their businesses. They encouraged all readers to consider their businesses as startups. And they warned that each and every day devoted to denying this truth is a day closer to extinction. They were right and we temporarily followed their recommendation at Vanderbloemen, turning the way we do things and preparing for a longer life than we would like with COVID.
I have already written it, this ice age has convinced me more than ever: agility is the new reference.
Take a look at the corporations that spent the first six months of COVID and see how agility has paid off:
The long term belongs to the agile.
The same applies to workers or task seekers. The pandemic has been there for some time; We’re in a mini ice age that will last until 2021. Therefore, the task of workers and task seekers is to consider you as a startup. He works every day to be more agile. How you can expand new skills.
So what can you do to agile? Here’s a daily stretching regimen that would suggest:
Ask yourself what you’re doing now and what it’s going to take in the months or years to come. Focus on those skills and the ability to speak and show how you are.
Ask yourself what you want to avoid making that may not be mandatory in the coming years. And avoid doing those things.
Ask yourself what new skills you want to expand in the coming years. Invest in those skills.
If you want a start list, here is my prediction of 3 skills that will allow you to win and keep your next task while following this virus:
If you look at the Ice Age, you will see that many species have simply succeeded. But if you look closer, you’ll see that the survivors were the ones who temporarily adapted and vigorously accepted the call to change. I think the same will be said for the team members who excel in the months and years to come.
