Hulu Orders ‘Mid-Century Modern’ Multi-Camera for Series

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. At least Hulu hopes so.

No doubt buoyed by the mega-hit The Golden Girls, Hulu has given the green light to the 20th Mid-Century Modern TV comedy from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan. The multi-camera series, also produced by Ryan Murphy, stars Nathan Lane, Matt Bomer and Nathan Lee Graham as, according to the tagline, “three very productive friends, gay gentlemen of a certain age, who organize after an unforeseen death to spend They spent their golden years together in Palm Springs, where the richest lived with his mother (Linda Lavin).

“As a selected family, it turns out that no matter how complicated it is, there is someone around to remind you that it is better to have neck surgery,” the description continues.

Shadows of Bea Arthur in The Golden Girls, Nathan Lane stars in Mid-Century Modern as Bunny Schneiderman, a successful businessman with a retired foot and still in love.

Reminiscent of Betty White as Rose, Matt Bomer plays Jerry Frank, who left the Mormon Church and his marriage in his early twenties after his spouse informed him and the rest of the congregation that he was gay.

Like Rue McClanahan as Blanche, Nathan Lee Graham plays Arthur, a “dignified and sublime veteran of the fashion industry who believes that life will never have the grace and panache that would exist if he were in charge. “

And Linda Lavin — Estelle Getty’s “Sophia” (Estelle Getty) — plays Bunny’s mother, Sybil Schneiderman, described as “critical, suffocating and amoral. “

Lane and Bomer are also manufacturers of Mid-Century Modern.

Of course, those four “Golden” (Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty) were the highest-rated Golden Girls and winners of multiple Emmy Awards between 1985 and 1992. Historically, the Golden Girls are only one of the 4 comedies in which all the main actors have won an Emmy. (The 4 are All in the family, Will
