Before the release of Deadpool and Wolverine, there were countless rumors about who could appear in these roles. By now, you’ve probably noticed news about superheroes that have appeared, many of which date back to the 20th century era. Fox’s Marvel narrative. And one, in particular, of a failed endeavor that excited fans but never came to fruition: Channing Tatum’s version of Gambit, which was the butt of several jokes in Deadpool and Wolverine. Hardcore Wolverine enthusiasts thought we were going to see diversifications of the clawed X-Man in the movie. And we were right, but something was wrong. What if he could play Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel movies?
There will have to be an explanation as to why Henry Cavill is the only actor not named Hugh Jackman to appear in Deadpool and Wolverine. Either the film is filled with multiple actors betting on Wolverine, or Jackman assumes the identity of each Logan variant. Only director Shawn Levy went to great lengths to choose an actor to play a variation of Wolverine, and it was Henry Cavill.
And I think that means Cavill is in the game to take on the role of Wolverine once Hugh Jackman is in spite of everything that’s been done.
Maybe it’s a check bubble. A chance for enthusiasts to see what Cavill would look like as Wolverine, to answer. And so far, enthusiasts have enjoyed it. Cavill just turned 41 and, as you can see in this scene, he looks the part and may continue to be for years. Jackman is 55 years old. It’s been over a decade since Cavill transformed into Wolverine, which may happen!
Now yes, this has happened to Cavill before:
But the door ended in the DCEU when he appeared in Black Adam, and for now, we know that the MCU will want more X-Men. And yes, Disney would possibly wish Hugh Jackman would play Logan until he was 90 years old. But having the right backing makes sense, and Cavill is the right choice.
