“This year’s nominees are a long way from the four winners 35 years later,” Hernandez said in a statement. “The point of creativity and skill in our network is abundant and illustrated in this year’s list. The judges were challenged through the overwhelming accumulation of quality presentations to be considered. It is transparent that we are moving forward, but we have a long way to go to achieve significant equity and inclusion in the industry. Meanwhile, Image is committed to being the means to elevate and show Latinx’s ability in front of the camera. »

The Image Awards were established in 1985 on the advice of industry leader Norman Lear to celebrate Latinx’s media performance. The nominees are decided through an independent panel of entertainment industry leaders and Latinx network leaders.

The occasion will be presented on 14 September.
