Inkshares hires Kurt Mueller, Chief Operating Officer, Veteran Onion

EXCLUSIVE: Kurt Mueller, a longtime member of The Onion’s control team, joins crowdfunding firm Inkshares as chief operating officer.

Mueller spent 8 years in the satirical brand, and went from a small newspaper-focused company to a virtual power. Univision bought a 40% controlling stake in The Onion in 2016, paying $200 million, before leaving the company later.

Inkshares has adaptations of its progressive e-book titles with Amazon, Showtime, Warner Bros, Alcon, Stampede, PlatformOne, Endeavor Content and studios and networks.

The company’s investors come with Indicator Ventures, Ingram Ventures, the founder of Stampede Ventures and former WB film director Greg Silverman, the founder of PictureStart and former Lionsgate film co-director Erik Feig, as well as angel investors in the agency, production and publishing sectors.
