Instagram has introduced a new tool that will allow users to launch GoFundMe-style fundraising events on the social networking site, according to a blog post posted Tuesday.
The company’s non-public fundraising helps others “increase the budget for a non-public cause, such as you, your small business, a friend, or a cause you care about.” This is reminiscent of the type of campaigns you see on the GoFundMe fundraising site.
To create a non-public fundraiser, you must be at least 18 years old. In the app, click “Edit Profile”, then go to “Add a fundraiser” and then tap “Raise Money”. Depending on the company, the app will ask you to enter your details for Stripe, the paid service that Instagram uses for donations.
There is a review procedure in which donation instances are reviewed before they are approved and before the budget can begin to be raised. The investment era lasts 30 days with an extension option. Cash is deposited into your selection’s bank account at the end of fundraising.
Taxpayers may decide to remain unnamed to the public, but not the fundraiser: their username, profile call, and donation amount will be visual to that person.
The feature will begin to be implemented as a component of a small verification for users in the US, UK and Ireland on Android. Features will be rolled out soon on iOS.
