Directed by Joel David Moore (Avatar) and starring Amanda Crew (Final Destination 3), Tom Felton (Harry Potter) and Ashley Greene (Twilight), Some Other Woman is a psychological thriller following a woman who begins to question if she’s losing her mind or her husband’s loyalty when a strange woman slowly intrudes into their life.
A must see for any horror fan, the film takes us to unexpected places and, a while before the holidays, we had the chance to talk to Amanda about her role as Eva.
Given the twisty-turny nature of Some Other Woman, we started the interview by asking the actor about her reaction to the script when she sat down to read it for the first time:
“When they sent me the script, I didn’t expect to attach it so much. The funny thing is that we filmed this in 2021. It was a procedure to get it out, so I feel like it was a long time ago. Like who I was at that time. At that moment, I resonated with Eve’s adventure of living a life whose dream you’ve been sold, and then wondering – having something to interrupt all of that – the validity of what you’ve been sold and seeking to find out what’s true. It’s such a confusing procedure that I. I personally experienced that moment.
“I had just come out of a delight like that when they sent me the script. I actually resonated with their adventure and it was very coherent and cathartic to be able to put that into my performance and the delight that I had just come out of. . . that this functionality was actually cathartic and that’s probably why this film will remain in my top 3 most sensible delights I’ve had in my career so far, because it was actually one of the rare delights in which life imitates art and art. It really moved me. “
As noted above, Felton is one of Amanda’s co-stars and plays her character’s husband. Although the Flash star is best known for betting on Draco Malfoy, it wasn’t like that for Amanda, as she never saw the Harry Potter movies!
However, that proved extremely beneficial when it came to figuring out their on-set dynamic:
“[Laughs] When I met him, I thought, ‘I have to be honest, I’ve never seen a Harry Potter movie. ‘ I know it’s a sin to say it out loud and that his enthusiasts will come looking for me, but maybe it was better that way. ” way because I felt like I could get to know him and I was so impressed by his ability that I enjoyed racing with him. He is an incredible husband and I feel like he brings out the most productive thing in me.
“He was so encouraging and supportive and a real teammate. I think sometimes when actors have come off a huge franchise like that, it’s a very specific acting experience being on those and so sometimes an actor has a harder time adapting to smaller projects and the idea of getting in the trenches. It couldn’t be further from the truth for Tom. He truly, truly loves acting and is so passionate about it. It was really refreshing.”
