IPL in the United Arab Emirates: Sunrisers VVS mentor Laxman is of the nature of wickets

Dubai: VVS Laxman, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting mentor, is the kind of terrain that will be presented at the 2020 IPL when the Orange Army moves to Anantara station in Palm on Sunday. Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were the last two groups to arrive in Dubai on the same charter flight.

“The grounds are slower, however, we just have to wait and see because we might be surprised by the efforts of the floor staff,” Laxman said in a video tweeted through the franchise.

“The grounds will be fantastic, but I hope the grounds are well maintained by the court staff.”

Laxman, meanwhile, relies on enthusiasts that cricket quality would suffer even if matches were played in front of empty bleachers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I can assure all game enthusiasts that they will enjoy the festival even if there are no crowds or spectators on the field,” Laxman said, adding, “Never think that the power or quality of cricket will diminish.”

Laxman said that prior to the 2020 auction, he was in control to choose young Indian drummers for the middle order, resulting in the inclusion of promising performers such as Priyam Garg, Virat Singh and B Sandeep, among others.

“At the auction, it’s a very intentional effort to have young people. While young, they are all the most prolific artists in domestic cricket.

“When you see the composition of our team, we’ve had a lot of experienced players from India.

“But when we looked at the national players, we were forced to use our stick, especially our intermediate stick. So we went with the artist for the last two seasons.

The Sunrisers made significant adjustments to their staff before this year, placing Trevor Bayliss in Tom Moody’s position as head coach. Brad Haddin, who has previously worked with Bayliss, repositioned Simon Helmot as an assistant coach.

“Trevor is one of the most successful coaches in world cricket; England won the World Cup for the first time under his coaching,” Laxman said.

“I’ve admired him and all the interactions I’ve had with him have been perfect. I’ve learned something from each and every interaction. He is calm and quiet and also has the temperament to handle the most productive groups and most productive players.

“Brad Haddin is an unconditional competitor. In fact, he’ll give 100 percent or probably more than one hundred percent as an assistant coach.
