It will be filmed in Kamloops on the subject of the pandemic

A pandemic-themed comedy/suspense will soon be filmed in some places in Kamloops.

The film, titled Outrunners, is the story of a determined young woman who runs to save her mother while avoiding the snipers and drones of the truth.

Producers say the film will look like Contagion crossed with Run Lola Run and Game Night.

Ken Hegan, born and raised in Kamloops, wrote the story and will direct the film, which will begin shooting in September.

Hegan has written for several magazines and television shows, adding George Stroumboulopoulos’ The Hour on CBC and the first resident writer at the Vancouver Public Library.

Outrunners will be Hegan’s sixth film script.

To help Hegan will be Vancouver manufacturer Shawn Major and the training years and filmmaker Kamloops Vesta Giles.

The filming locations come with the Plaza Hotel in the center, other downtown locations, Brocklehurst, Ord Road and North Kamloops.

Hegan, Major and Giles are also looking for help with the film, adding a “great beautiful space” with lawn and hot tub for two days of filming, a space or recreational vehicles for actors and equipment from September 8-19 and a fictional film. hospital room with bed, IV monitor and ECG for one day of filming.

Producers are also for local sponsors for product placement opportunities in the film, as well as local extras, with more main points on which manufacturers to follow.
