James Murdoch, former CEO of 21st Century Fox, resigned from the Board of News Corp. Friday afternoon.
The son of founder Rupert Murdoch and brother of the CEO of Fox Corp. and co-chair of News Corp., Lachlan Murdoch, cited editorial differences.
“My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content posted through the company’s media and other secure strategic decisions,” Murdoch wrote in the letter.
The Murdochs, in a FOX Business, thanked James for his contributions.
“We are grateful to James for his many years of service to the company. We wish him everything he has in his long-term plans,” News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch and Co-Chairman Lachlan Murdoch said in a statement.
The Murdochs are majority shareholders of News Corp. and Fox Corp.
News Corp. it is the parent company of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Post and The Sun.
Fox Corp. is the parent company of FOX Business and Fox News.
