Aquaman star Jason Momoa joins the cast of Supergirl, the superhero feature film from Warner Bros. ‘ DC studios, which begins filming in the U. K. next month.
Momoa will play the alien bounty hunter Lobo, joining a group that already includes Belgian star Matthias Schoenaerts and British newcomer Eve Ridley.
Australian Milly Alcock of House Of The Dragon will play the main character, known as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, in the adaptation of the 2022 DC comic book series, Supergirl: Woman Of TomorrowArray.
Craig Gillespie is directing and production will begin in the UK and Iceland in January. Warner Bros. has scheduled the film for release on June 26, 2026. Supergirl will be the second feature film from the recently revived DC studios after Superman, which will debut next July.
Momoa showed off his casting in an Instagram post, mentioning an interview in which he himself said that Lobo “has been my favorite comic book character. ”
Momoa has already helped DC/Warner’s Aquaman succeed in a global gross of $1. 15 billion in 2018, and the 2023 sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, to $439 million worldwide.
Focus to distribute in US on December 25, 2026.
It will be held from March 7 to 14.
