Jennifer Gray will star in and produce new film ”Dirty Dancing”

UPDATE: And showed that Jennifer Gray’s next assignment from Lionsgate is actually a new Dirty Dancing movie.

____

Jennifer Grey gives her her dancing shoes. The actress is expected to prominence and produce an untitled dance at Lionsgate, ET confirms.

Gray, of course, starred opposite Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing in 1987. Lionsgate owns the distribution rights to the Films Dirty Dancing, leading enthusiasts to think that this new task may simply be a Dirty Dancing film.

The next film, set in the 1990s, is directed by Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer of Megamix, with a script by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis (Five Feet Apart, The Curse of La Llorona). No additional main points should be available at this time.

In a 2016 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gray said he had been asked to be part of ABC’s new TV version of ABC’s Dirty Dancing, but turned down the opportunity.

“I was flattered, because I need to be asked, because it’s great to be included. But it would be sacrosanct for me to do so, because I didn’t think it was appropriate,” he shared. “It’s like you’re going to do your own thing, do your own thing.”

Gray did not reveal what role he asked to play in the remake, starring Abigail Breslin as Baby, unlike newcomer Colt Prattes as his beloved dance master, Johnny, the original role of Swayze.

“I’m interested in any iteration of anything they think there’s more to get, and I’d like to see what they offer,” Gray added about the new version. “I think they have glorious actors. I’ll see it and I’m excited about Array … I am flattered and excited by other people who are excited enough to put their stamp on and see what they do with it and how they fit it.”
