Seven-time Nascar Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson will return to the sport’s premier division once again for select races in 2025.
The Legacy Motor Club co-owner will drive the No. 84 in two races. It will qualify the Carvana car for the 2025 Daytona 500, in addition to the Coca-Cola 600.
“I am very proud of the relationship we have built with Carvana,” Johnson said in a statement. “They’ve supported my dreams and found cutting-edge tactics to talk to fans. As my days behind the wheel of a race car continue to come to an end, the partnership with Carvana continues to celebrate my motorist and is a great honor.
Johnson competed in nine races in 2024, finishing 26th at Phoenix Raceway. He narrowly qualified for the 2024 Daytona 500 after passing J. J. Yeley in the last lap of Bluegreen Vacations Duel No. 2.
“I’m excited to get back to racing in 2025,” Johnson said. “These two races hold a special position in my center and I have enjoyed the power and excitement that surrounds them. The Daytona 500 is a jewel in Nascar’s crown – there is nothing like it. Charlotte Motor Speedway was where I started for the first time in the Nascar Cup Series and it is still my home.
If Johnson qualifies for either race, the six hundred Coca-Colas will be his 700th start in the Nascar Cup.
The Legacy Motor Club is hoping for a bounce-back year in 2025 after Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek struggled in the team’s first year with Toyota. Together, they had one of the top five and six of the top 10.
No further races have been announced for Johnson in 2025. It is also unclear if the Coca-Cola six-hundred will be his final attempt at Cup.
