Freelance, the new film starring John Cena and Alison Brie, has joined Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the 100 worst movies of all time.
The action-comedy follows former Special Forces agent Mason Pettits (Cena), who provides security for journalist Claire Wellington (Brie) as she interviews the dictator (Juan Pablo Raba) of a fictional country called Paldonia.
However, in the middle of the interview, a military coup breaks out that forces the trio to escape together into the jungle as they try to survive, leading to all sorts of detours and armed conflicts.

The film garnered critical acclaim when it premiered last week (October 27), garnering a 0% approval score in its first 23 reviews. This reception allowed Freelance to register on the site’s list of the worst videos of all time, with comedy lately ranking 33rd.
The lowest-rated movie is recently Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, with 10 other notable entries including Left Behind, A Thousand Words, Gotti, and Jaws: The Revenge.
The consensus in favor of Freelance has been uniformly negative so far, with Slant Magazine calling the film “a cinematic Frankenstein whose disparate genre elements have blended together without much attention or fuss. “
Although Freelance disappointed critics, Cena will most likely be hoping that the second season of Peacemaker can do more to satisfy viewers, and director James Gunn recently revealed that scripts are being written.

“Creating Peacemaker has been one of the true highlights of my life, whether professionally or otherwise, with John Cena and the artistic team around me, as well as our partners at HBO Max,” Gunn said in delivering the second season.
“To have something we all love so much and to be enjoyed by the audience has been a glorious experience. I can’t wait for other people to see where Team Peacemaker is headed in season two. “
Freelance is now available in theaters across the United States.
