Kangana Ranaut offers an interview with Aamir Khan on Islam

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut tweeted a false interview in which she claimed that actor Aamir Khan was an extremist for insisting that her children would only adhere to Islam.

The interview tweeted through Ranaut falsely quotes Khan as saying that regardless of whether his wife is Hindu, his children would stick to the Islamic faith and be labeled as false in the afterlife through the actor’s team.

Ranaut’s tweet went viral and was also published through the Times of India and Pinkvilla without warning that Khan’s interview did not exist and was false. A source of Aamir Khan’s productions told BOOM that the article was fake and that the actor never granted that interview to any website.

The fake article is shared after the recently found actor in Istanbul met the first Turk Emine Erdogan on August 15, 2020. The actor travels to Turkey to find the location of his next film, Laal Singh Chaddha.

Khan, who is married to director Kiran Rao, labeled an extremist through Ranaut, and mentioned the false interview that insists that he would only teach his young people the principles of Islam. The fake 2012 story claims that Khan answered questions about his first wife Reena Dutta and Rao.

Ranaut’s tweet read: “Hindu – Muslim – Muslim. This is extremism, the result of a marriage is not only a combination of genders and cultures, but even religions. Teach the young Allah and Shri Krishna, it’s secularism, isn’t it?”

His second-time tweet, once translated, says, “You were the highest tolerant, when did you sign up for Hinduism? The young people of Hindu mothers whose blood has Sri Krishan and Sri Rama, the Sanatan Dharma, the Indian civilization, culture is their heritage, will stick only to Islam, why? “

The article titled “My women would possibly be Hindu, but my children will only stick to Islam: Aamir Khan” dates from 2012 and appears to be on an online page called Tanqeed. It was published as an interview stating that Khan spoke to a correspondent named Shaheen Raaj.

The article asks questions about Khan’s perspectives on faith and how it follows the practices of Islam. One of the questions has to do with his appointments and whether he faced a “religious dilemma” by marrying Dutta or Rao.

The false tale states that to the question, Khan replied: “No, surely nothing. We have never practiced the faith of others and have not forced ourselves to do so. But, of course, I had made it very clear that my children would stick only to the Islamic faith.”

The interview ends with an opinion from the editor who says, “Ps: This is what I call hypocrisy in its most productive form (my entry)” in reaction to Khan’s reaction that his children would adhere to Islam despite his marriage to a Hindu.

The Times Of India media and the online entertainment page Pinkvilla, spread Ranaut’s tweet and also published the main points of the fake interview published on the site without denying that the article quoted through the actress is false.

BOOM contacted a source of Aamir Khan Productions who refuted the claims made in the article and stated that Aamir Khan had granted such an interview.

“This is a fake article, we filed a complaint in 2012 and police arrested a defendant in Hyderabad for spreading the fake interview,” the source told BOOM. The extra source stated that Khan gave such interviews or made such statements attributed to the actor.

A search using the name of the fake story, “My wives would possibly be Hindu, but my children will only stick to Islam” and “Aamir Khan,” showed the effects of a 2010 blog on Blogspot with the same interview.

The same 2010 blog also cited in a DailyO article titled “The Growing Intolerance of Superstar Aamir Khan” of November 2015, which refers to her attributing the fake quote to Khan. The 2010 blog is no longer accessible, it corresponds precisely to Tanqeed’s story published in 2012.
