“My audition literally between Wednesday morning and Wednesday night (representation) and I left the level and got to the other side of Soho to audition,” he told Cooney.
“Like them, they were late. I’m like, “Uh, I have to be on stage.”
Fearing missing the evening show, Jackman broke into the audition room.
“I knocked on the door and said, “Sorry to interrupt, sorry.And they looked at me like, what are you doing?”
“I said, “I want to audition now or I’ll go.”And I can see them say, “Yes, go.” But the guy who had just finished said, “Okay, come here.”
“I’m a little messy because I waited an hour and a part and I hate to be late, so I was fucked,” Jackman said.

His mood turned out to be a blessing disguised when Jackman channeled his anger for the audition.
“We made one or two catches, and then they said, “Can we do this one again?”And I said, “No, can we do the other scene?” I just have to get him to do the other scene.”

Jackman had to audition six more times for the role, only to be told they had to play Scottish actor Dougray Scott.
Luckily, Scott had to retire from the X-Men film because the filming of Mission: Impossible 2, in which he performed, had exceeded the schedule.
“I send a gift to Tom Cruise every year,” Jackman joked on the Aussies in Hollywood podcast.

Before filming began, Jackman awkwardly met Scott at the opening of Fox Studios in Sydney.
He came here later and I said, ‘My friend, I’m sorry.’And he said, ‘My friend, this has nothing to do with you.It’s a wonderful role, it goes ahead and weighs. You’re going on to be wonderful.”
“I think it was an act of elegance,” Jackman added.
Last year Scott asked on a red carpet not to play Wolverine and said, “It’s a role I’ve been introduced to and rejected three times and I didn’t need to.
“Then they persuaded me to do it and IArray … I was about to do it, and then the film I was making at the time went so far as I could do it in the end.So Wolverine’s story.
“I never thought of it to be fair to you, ” he added.
