The drive-in of this occasion is a direct result of the pandemic. Unable to accommodate audiences in its main street theater due to restrictions on public meetings, Story Screen Beacon Theatre partnered with the city of Beacon to create the drive-in at USC Park on Wolcott Avenue.
The “College Behind Bars” screening is presented through Story Screen and Beacon Film Society. Wednesday’s program will include a Q&A consultation with Max Kenner, founder and CEO of the Bard Prison Initiative; and Tamika Graham, a former inmate who graduated from the Bard Prison Initiative with an associate’s degree.
“College Behind Bars” marks the last look at Dutchess County in Burns. “The Roosevelts: An Intimate History”, his 14-hour documentary that aired on PBS in 2014.
The film explored, analyzed and dissected quotes and dynamics among President Franklin D. Roosevelt, who was born, lived and buried in Hyde Park; his wife, First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, who lived and is buried in Hyde Park; and President Theodore Roosevelt.
