Oscar winner Kevin Kline (A Fish Called Wanda) has been tapped to star in American Classic, a half-hour comedy for linear channel and streaming service MGM+. From Michael Hoffman (Soapdish, Restoration) and Bob Martin (The Prom, Slings and Arrows), American Classic centers on Kline as Broadway star and notorious narcissist Richard Bean, who suffers a public meltdown and returns to his hometown and the family-run theater where he first became aware of his own brilliance.
According to the logline: “When Richard Bean arrives, he is surprised to notice that his father, the former artistic director, lost a level and that the theater previously respected, now drove through his brother Jon (Jon Tenney) and his wife (((((((( Now, the mayor of the city) has become, out of necessity, a low -key theater dinner that serves flesh and murder.
American Classic comes from the fifth-season studio, with key marketing imagery, a fairytale story, and unnamed content.
