Ten years after making the groundbreaking documentary feature film Life in a Day, composed of video clips of 80,000 fans sent to YouTube that describe the lives of others around the world in an un married day (July 24, 2010), director Kevin Macdonald is in a position to reopen a cinematic window on human existence.
Life in a Day 2020, as the name suggests, is about to repeat the procedure a decade later, with whom he wants to encourage himself to film his life and tell the story of a day on Earth, this time on July 25, 2020.The film YouTube Originals reunites Macdonald and Ridley Scott, who produced the first feature film.
Like the original, Life in a Day is scheduled to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and YouTube year.
“Making my first life in one day was one of the most joyful and revealing reports of my life,” Macdonald said.”Participants were generous enough to represent fairly intimate moments in their lives as a component of a massive life-affirming cinematic experience.I am delighted, 10 years later, that we are directing Life in a Day 2020.In the meantime, how have we changed, how has our relationship with cinema changed, and at this point of ordinary inflection in history, what do we expect for our future?”
On July 25, the filmmakers invited everyone to capture and reflect the truth of their global world over a period of 24 hours, photographs that will then need to be uploaded to the YouTube site committed to the film until August 2. Submitted videos will be reviewed and translated by a team of 30 multilingual critics from around the world, along with the film’s 3 main editors: Mdhamiri – Nkemi (Blue Story, The Last Tree), Sam Rice-Edwards (Whitney) and Nse Asuquo ( The Stuart Hall Project, The Jazz Ambassadors) – running alongside Macdonald to help shape the film’s narrative from the entrances.

Life In a Day 2020 is directed through Macdonald, with Scott and Kai Hsiung as producers, and Jack Arbuthnott and Tim Partridge as producers.The documentary is produced through RSA Films in accordance with Flying Object.
