Following the release of its AV SR-Series 2020 8K compatible receivers, Marantz has run the backdrop of its first ultra-thin 8K home theater amplifier.
The NR1711 is the newest of a long line of thin Marantz receivers, and measures about part of the height of a popular model. But even if it may be small, in fact it doesn’t lack functions. In fact, the seven-channel 90-watt amplifier supports many next-generation technologies and HDMI 2.1 features noted in the SR series.
First, there are HDMI connections (one input, one output) that go to 8K/60fps. These are complemented by five other HDMI inputs that play the ball with 4K/120fps video, various HDR formats (Dolthrough Vision, HLG, Dynamic HDR and HDR10) and Dolthrough Atmos and DTS immersive surround sound technologies: X. HDMI eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel support) also allows direct transmission of those surround sound formats from TV shows to receiver.
Dolby Atmos high virtualization generation (via a long-term firmware update) and DTS Virtual: X are also integrated, giving owners a 3-d virtual listening delight without the need for engaged surround or higher speakers.
Good news for gamers: All the buzzwords of game generation are on board, just in time for the long-awaited releases of the PS5 and Xbox Series X. There is a variable refresh rate (which allows a TV to adjust its real-time update rate symbol output from a game console or PC), Auto Low Latency (which changes its TV to its default low-lalayed game settings when a signal is detected from a console), and finally Quick Frame Transport (which reduces demo latency).
In addition to watching videos and playing, the NR1711 follows the way its siblings dress by supporting high-resolution heOS audio, multi-piece streaming, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, and providing phono input.
The Marantz NR1711 will be available in September in a selection of black or silver-gold, with a price of 649 euros (699 euros).
