Mayor Commits Suicide After News Site Published Photographs of Him Dressed in Women’s Clothes

An Alabama mayor died in an apparent suicide, days after a right-winger posted photos of him dressed in women’s clothing and makeup.

F. L. ” Bubba” Copeland, who was also a pastor at a nearby church, committed suicide on Friday, according to Sky’s US partner NBC News.

Mr. Copeland had asked the online page not to publish the photographs, but the online page refused and continued the story, and two days later he died.

He quoted these words: “What I do in my personal life has nothing to do with what I do in my holy life.

“Does the fact that I’m mayor, that I dress or that I wear makeup have any effect?Does it have anything to do with whether I’m mayor or pastor?”

The conservative publication condemned the article through a Democratic senator from the state, who said it was “sad and disgusting” how Mr. Copeland had been treated.

“We live in a depraved and sour world where moralists have a tendency to cast the biggest stones,” Jones said in a statement.

“He’s a smart guy and a wonderful mayor who led the small town of Smith Station through the hard times of a devastating tornado a few years ago. “

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
