Following the rumors of recent weeks, Microsoft announced the closure of production of the Xbox One X and Xbox One S Digital Edition: “As we move forward in the long run with the Xbox Series X, we are making the herbal resolution to prevent production on Xbox One X and Xbox One S All-Digital Edition,” the company said in a statement: “The Xbox One S will continue to be manufactured and sold worldwide.”
To be clear: this does not mean that One X and One S Digital will disappear from store shelves. Microsoft says players can check with stores for the availability of their existing inventory. Instead, this news indicates that Microsoft is shifting its production precedence to the next generation of the Xbox Series X. It wouldn’t make sense to continue building older consoles when asked to turn to the new trend in a few months, wouldn’t it?
In particular, it makes sense that Microsoft is starting to move away from xbox one x now. It’s still the toughest console in the company, but right now, players asking for the fastest hardware are waiting for the X Series this fall (or are just following the route of Windows gaming PCs). The Digital Edition One S, in turn, can only be replaced by the “Xbox Series S”, which can be revealed only in August, according to the latest rumors.
