Moviegoers will be left “belly” after watching the “nightmare” movie of 2024

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

If you’re thinking about watching Yorgos Lanthimos’ 50-year-old new film, Kinds of Kindness, you might need to read this first.

The upcoming film, starring Willem Dafoe, 68, Jesse Plemons, 36, Emma Stone, 35, and Margaret Qualley, 29, premiered in New York City on Thursday, and walking on the carpet, Plemons revealed that the film could appeal to the audience. sick. ” to the stomach. ”

Kinds of Kindness follows three intense stories: the first is about Robert (Plemons), a businessman who lets his boss (Dafoe) know each and every aspect of his life, even going so far as to try to ask him to kill someone in a car accident.

In the second, Plemons is a police officer who is convinced that his wife, Liz (Stone) is an imposter after returning home after being lost at sea, and then asks her to commit brutal and gruesome acts in a twisted ordeal.

In the latter, the couple, committed members of a cult, recruit a pair of dangerously silent leaders, who run a glorified sex complex, complete with a hot tub full of tears.

The film, which lasts two hours and minutes, is already causing a sensation as “psychological terror”.

After its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was temporarily classified as “haunting” and “disgusting next level”, but it was also applauded for its bold and cross-cutting content.

Now, the actors are starting to focus on the film, and Plemons told The Hollywood Reporter, “There are safe sequences that I think a lot of people would get a stomachache.

“It’s also a kind of film that I feel doesn’t get seen much these days, that is very strange and surreal and summary and dreamlike, nightmarish, but it’s not, in my opinion, just weird. For the thrill of being weird. .

“Yorgos has this way of taking those simple, universal themes, turning them on their head and exploring them in a strange but human way.

“So I found reading the script very emotional, even though I didn’t know exactly why or what had just happened to me when I read it. “

While the Killers of the Flower Moon actor thinks the symbol is “surreal” and exclusive without being “weird,” he’s quick to praise his co-stars, especially Stone, whom he considers “fearless. ”

He shared that the actress, who recently won her second Oscar, takes her task seriously “she doesn’t take herself seriously. ”

Plemons said it was an act he found “enjoyable and refreshing. ”

The film scored 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, with many saying they “enjoyed” it despite its more “outlandish” approach.

Metro. co. uk shared his review of the film, saying, “Kinds of Kindness is the kind of weird and crazy movie we celebrate making, even if it’s not for the faint of heart or necessarily for a giant audience. “

Kinds of Kindness will be in theaters starting June 28.
