The league rejected an offer from Warner Bros. Discovery to accommodate Amazon’s offer.

The National Basketball Association on Wednesday announced new rights with Disney, Comcast and Amazon after rejecting a rival offer from Warner Bros. Discovery would have kept the games on its TNT network, which has been broadcasting NBA games since the 1980s.
The corporations will jointly pay about $77 billion over 11 years, according to four other people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss monetary details. This will particularly boost the league’s annual earnings and reflects the continued importance of live sports. programming, even as streaming has reshaped the entertainment industry.
In making the announcement, the league said it had rejected Warner Bros. this week. Discovery aims to adapt to Amazon’s offer for its percentage of the package.
“Throughout those negotiations, our number one goal has been to maximize the success and accessibility of our games for our fans,” the league said in a statement. “Our new agreement with Amazon supports this purpose by complementing the broadcast, cable and streaming offerings already part of our new agreements with Disney and NBCUniversal. “(NBCUniversal is owned by Comcast. )
“All three partners have also committed really significant resources to publicize the league and decorate the fan experience,” he added.
The new deals, which NBAet comes with some WNBA games, will go into effect with the 2025-2026 season and are more than two and a half times the average annual price of the league’s existing rights deals.
