Atlas, Jennifer Lopez’s newest movie, are the new and already released movies debuting on the streaming service this week.
Atlas, a Netflix original film, stars Lopez as Agent Atlas Shepherd, a knowledge analyst who has no religion in synthetic intelligence. Atlas is forced to embrace AI when she has to use generation to catch Harlan (Simi Liu), a rogue robot she created to advance humanity and now threatens to destroy it after a past attempt failed.
Atlas is directed by Brad Peyton, who in the past directed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on the action-adventure hits Rampage and San Andreas.
Also starring Sterling K. Brown, Lana Parilla and Mark Strong, Atlas premieres on Netflix on Friday.
Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively in A Plain Favor, a crime comedy from Bridesmaids and Spy director Paul Feig.
Kendrick plays Stephanie, a widowed mother and vlogger who befriends a socialite PR agent, Emily (Lively), when their children are friends at school. After Emily’s disappearance, Stephanie investigates the disappearance of her new friend and finds herself involved in confusing dating issues throughout the form.
According to box office tracking tool The Numbers, A Simple Favor was an international box office success, grossing $97. 6 million against a budget of $20 million.
The film was also well-received by critics on Rotten Tomatoes, earning a “new” score of 84% based on 257 reviews and a positive audience score of 73% based on verified scores from over 5,000 registered users of the site.

Also new for the streamer this week is the Netflix documentary Illusions for Sale: The Rise and Fall of Generation Zoe.

Illusions for Sale: The Rise and Fall of the Zoe Generation, will premiere on Netflix on Thursday.
Produced in 2022, the documentary was originally titled Butterfly in the Sky when it debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2023 and was renamed Butterfly in the Sky: The Story of Reading Rainbow for its Netflix debut.
The film tells the story of the former PBS educational show hosted through LeVar Burton, which had 155 episodes when it first aired between 1983 and 2006.
Burton comes naturally in the documentary, which is reminiscent of the beloved teen series that taught young people the joy of reading. In addition to Burton, the documentary features concepts from actors Whoopi Goldberg, Alisa Reyes and Kenny Blank, as well as director Dean. Parisot and the main creatives involved in the Reading Rainbow series.
