New Anime in 2024: The Most Important Current and Future Series, Including Summer Release Dates

The 2024 summer anime season is here, with big names returning and a host of shows to keep an eye on in August and September. But given the overwhelming wave of new anime released every week, it can be a daunting task to keep up with everything.

To help you out, we’ve put together a one-stop advisor for the dozens of new and ongoing anime in 2024, as well as a look back at the series that aired or were introduced this year.

First of all, place everything in a short list in order of release date. Then, we’ll dig a little deeper into each of them: why you deserve to be excited and a review of all of your major releases and streams. Main points: in the alphabetical list a little further down.

On top of that, we now have release dates for films like the Suicide Squad and Dandandan anime, as well as several exciting new movies on the horizon announced via Crunchyroll. There’s also the intriguing Look Back, which is generating a lot of buzz online.

Below, locate almost every major anime series coming in 2024. These tiers range from Netflix’s upcoming slate of video game entries (Devil May Cry and Tomb Raider) to some old favorites and new faces.  

We start in alphabetical order, which means starting with this year’s most anticipated anime: Arcane season 2.

Where to watch Arcane season 2: Netflix

Arcane, the anime set in the League of Legends universe, had a resounding fortune with its release in November 2021. Three years later, we still feel the aftermath of the clash between the cities of Piltover and Zaun – and the two sisters were caught in the middle: Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell). A trailer for Arcane season 2 was previously released in 2024, sparking a “nightmare rise” and a main storyline for Singed. A new poster also appeared, featuring a reversal of the relationship between Vi and Jinx. . .

Where to Watch Beastars Season 3: Netflix

2024 marks the year we say goodbye to Beastars, the anime set in a world of anthropomorphic animals, in which tensions develop between carnivores and herbivores. The series focuses on the affable gray wolf Legoshi and his confusing date with Haru the rabbit at Cherryton School.

Where to Watch Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War, Part 3: Hulu/Disney Plus

Yes, Bleach still exists and yes, it’s still amazing. The adaptation of the final arc continues and sees Ichigo return for “The Conflict. “The first trailer released on Jump Festa offers a brilliant preview of the upcoming war between our protagonist and Emperor Yhwach of Wandenreich.

Where to Watch Blood of Zeus Season 2: Netflix

After the twins’ twist at the end of the first season, Blood of Zeus will be an epic addition to Netflix’s burgeoning anime collection. With Heron still reeling and the gods searching for Zeus’ son, there’s plenty of room for an Olympus-sized binge with season 2 now streaming on Netflix.

Where to watch Blue Exorcist season 3: Crunchyroll

Blue Exorcist enthusiasts have been patient. The first season in 2011 and the second season arrived in 2017. After another long hiatus, the new season will continue the saga of Rin, the son of Satan. Expect more brutal surprises and suspense when we return to True Cross Academy.

Blue Exorcist has adapted the Shimane Illuminati saga and now all new episodes are available on Crunchyroll.

Where to watch Blue Lock: TBC season 2

Blue Lock has a spin-off movie this year (see more below), but also a new season to look forward to.

However, don’t expect a second-season syndrome to José Mourinho’s liking. The football anime aims to succeed in the heights of its initial series, in which young striker Isagi was part of Japan’s fun and over-the-top new task to track down a star striker: testing many students in a prison-flavored structure.

Set after the events of the famous Lelouch of the Resurrection, Roze of the Recapture will be the first in a multi-part saga. Roze will be played by prolific voice actor Kohei Amasaki. However, little is known about the history of the project.

The first of Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture will launch on Disney Plus on June 21, 2024.

Where to Watch Classroom of the Elite Season 3: Crunchyroll

As the call suggests, Classroom of the Elite focuses on the cohort at Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Education Secondary School, an establishment designed to teach the brightest Japan has to offer. Unfortunately for newcomer Kiyotaka, he is in Class 1-D – “D” for “Defective. ” The third season completes the manga arc covering the first school year.

Where to watch Demon Slayer season 4: Crunchyroll

Demon Slayer, one of the most popular anime in the world, tells the story of Tanjiro, a boy who faces a family tragedy after an encounter with murderous demons. He, along with his friends Inosuke, Zenitsu, and his half-demon sister Nezuko, set out to fight the highest-ranking demons with the help of the heroic group of Hashira warriors.

The fourth season brings Tanjiro one step closer to a full-blown Hashira. The arc, aptly named Hashira Training, premiered this spring and has lately streamed on Crunchyroll.

Where to Watch Devil May Cry: Netflix

Dante took a few years to reach our screens, but we are almost there. Of course, the devil is in the details, but it all looks pretty promising: Capcom’s adaptation of the iconic hack-and-slash game is coming in 2024. and it will feature a younger Dante. It will be presented through Studio Mir, known for its paintings on The Legend of Korra.

Where to watch Dragon Ball Daima: TBD

A new Dragon Ball series was announced in 2023 to commemorate the franchise’s anniversary.

Before his death, Akira Toriyama said that the series would take place in a “new world” after Goku and his friends “grow small. ” Expect some little shenanigans later this year.

Where to watch Frieren: Beyond the Journey’s End: Crunchyroll

The second course of the Frieren fantasy anime began in January and continues the story of elf wizard Frieren who, after defeating the Demon King, returns to see the group of heroes he fought with growing old or dying. Due to his longevity, he travels north to say goodbye to one of them, Himmel. Along the way, he intends to find more globality and make friends with new people. It is also a highly acclaimed adventure as it achieved the top spot on the anime site MyAnimeList.

Where to watch From Me to You season 3: Netflix

Also known as Kimi ni Todoke, From Me to You is a romantic slice-of-life drama that will touch the heart. It’s about the timid and timid Sawako (cruelly nicknamed “Sadako” due to her resemblance to the creature from The Ring) who comes out of her shell in the midst of a blossoming relationship with her classmate Kazehaya.

Where to watch Kengan Ashura season 2, 2: Netflix

The second part of the second season of the Kengan Ashura anime will bolster the ranks of Netflix anime later this year. Aren’t you conceited? You’re missing out. It tells the story of Ohma Takita, a modern gladiator who participates in tournaments only for the love of fighting and decimating his opponents. It’s brutal, with a killer hook (a tournament bow with a special prize in the seat of strength), just as hard as Ohma’s right hand.

A wonderful crossover with the equally impressive Baki Hanma will also arrive in June.

Where to watch Kingdom: Crunchyroll season 5

Kingdom, one of the best-selling mangas of all time, written and illustrated by Yasuhisa Hara, loosely adapts the ancient “Warring States” era in ancient China. Season five continues the saga, with more epic battles and political intrigue. the series.

Where to watch Masters of the Universe: Revolution: Netflix

Thanks to the strength of Grayskull, the He-Man sequel series returns this year and promises to pit He-Man and Skeletor against each other in a war forever.  

However, our hero finds himself at a crossroads in the new season: will he lead Eternia as a muscular alter ego or as Adam? Whatever happens, everything promises to be a chaotic explosion of color and chaos in the same vein that captivated. hearings in the 1980s.

Along with one of the strangest anime locations seen in a minute, Mushoku Tensei follows the story of a wanderer who is reincarnated in a fantasy world under the moniker Rudeus Greyrat, and aims to make the most of his opportunity. The second part of the second season arrives on Crunchyroll in April.

Where to Watch My Hero Academia: Crunchyroll Season 7

While the My Hero Academia star is arguably in decline compared to some of the other big names that have ruled the medium in recent years, the shonen superhero will most likely come to its end in style. It’s an adaptation of the Star and Stripe arc, starring the American hero of the same name, and will get closer and closer to the epic Final War arc later this year as our superheroes in education continue to rise to the occasion.

Where to watch One Piece: Netflix

One Piece, the long-running anime starring aspiring pirate king Monkey D. Luffy as he searched for the mythical One Piece along with his Straw Hat team, has surpassed the 1000 episode mark. He is now adapting the Egghead Island arc.

The Netflix synopsis reads: “A novelty takes hold at Future Island ‘Egghead’, home to the laboratory of scientific genius Dr. Vegapunk. What’s in store for the Straw Hat Pirates there?”

Where to watch Oshi No Ko season 2: TBD

Spoiling the premise of Oshi No Ko would do a disservice to what has been one of the most mind-blowing twists in recent years. Needless to say, we’re going to keep this brief: the anime centers on two twins who become entangled in the world. of pop idols, all delightfully wrapped up in a murder mystery. The second season promises to be a must-see in our eyes.

Where to Watch Pokémon Horizons: The Series: Netflix

Goodbye Ash! The winding path that saw Pallet Town’s favorite son finally become a Pokémon master came to an end last year. Now, Pokémon Horizons ushers in a new era and sees the introverted Liko out in the world with the arrogant Mighty Volt Tacklers, and their Captain Pikachu. The second part of the series will be available on Netflix in the United States starting in May.

Where to watch Re: Monster: Crunchyroll

The anime loves intelligent isekai, the genre that occasionally sees a protagonist transported to another world, and Re: Monster is expected to be among the top of the list this year. Sports anime has many areas, from track clubs to volleyball and, of course, golf.  

Rising Impact will arrive on Netflix in June, adapting Nakaba Suzuki’s acclaimed manga. Follow Gawain Nanaumi’s adventure at Camelot Academy, armed with little more than a dream and a super-powered golf swing.

The second season will premiere this year and will premiere on Netflix in August.

Where to watch Sand Land: Disney Plus

It’s a two-for-one if you haven’t seen the original Sand Land movie yet. The feature film, directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima, adapted the shonen manga by Dragon Ball author Akira Toriyama, who composed the first six episodes of this new anime.

Since then, the series has developed the world of Sand Land as its sheriff recruits demons to search for a new source of water. To the land of the forest!

Where to Watch Solo Leveling: Crunchyroll

Are we witnessing the birth of a new classic? Only Leveling revolves around Sung Jinwoo, “the weakest hunter in the world,” who finds himself humiliated in a high-level dungeon. Where to watch Terminator Zero: Netflix

Developed through Production IG (best for its Ghost in the Shell and Haikyu series), Terminator Zero sees Timothy Olyphant voice the unstoppable killer device as he travels to the year 1997 to get rid of a scientist.

Terminator Zero is directed by Masashi Kudō (best for his work on Bleach), with The Batman screenwriter Mattson Tomlin serving as showrunner.

Where to Watch That Time I Got Reincarnated in Slime Season 3: Crunchyroll

Anime is back with one of the most impressive titles of the moment. As a reminder: he was reborn in the form of a slime in a fantasy world after being killed. Where to Watch The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse: Netflix

The sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins takes place several years after the defeat of the Demon King. When peace returns to Camelot, a young man named Percival meets a mysterious knight, beginning an epic adventure that may replace Britannia forever. The first trailer for The Seven Deadly Sins is available now.

Where to watch The Witcher: Mermaids of the Deep: Netflix

After his friend Rachel enters the mysterious tower looming in their world, Bam sets out to save her. The first season ended with a pretty mind-blowing twist, which we may not reveal here, and if it pays off in the second season, this could be an anime that will dominate the rest.

Where to watch TP Bon: Netflix

Chances are, T-P Bon will capture viewers’ imaginations very, very quickly. It features a unique premise: a top student enlists in a time-consuming company to help save lives in multiple times and places, as well as amazing artwork, magnetic casting, and a killer theme. What is it not to love?

Where to Watch Uzumaki: Toonami/Adult Swim

It’s time for this list to have a little more horror flavor. Uzumaki delves into the (thankfully fictional) city of Kurouzo-chu and its supernatural-filled history. It was written by legendary horror manga artist Junji Ito, so there’s every reason to think that it will scare us if it arrives later this year.

Where to Watch Wistoria: Wand and Sword: Crunchyroll

Wistoria, one of the wonderful new fantasy anime series, follows the story of Will Serfort, a student who possesses talents with the sword, but, a twist: it is a world that favors magic users.  

In case you want something more compelling, a Wistoria producer recently praised the series’ artistic minds as one of the largest anime groups ever assembled.

Although it’s not as crowded as last year (there’s no Studio Ghibli movie or any genuine heavyweights in the TV space), there are still plenty of animated videos to keep an eye out for in 2024, with the promise of many. más. la line.

Where to Watch Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura: Netflix

What’s next for a surprise, or even welcome, crossover? Baki Hanma vs. Kengan Ashura pits the star fighters of the two Netflix combat anime against each other in an epic and bloody showdown. This even includes series protagonists Ohma Takita and Baki Hanma in a forever match.

The Blue Lock sports anime focuses on Japan’s engaging strategies to raise a new soccer star after their World Cup struggles. The solution? A prison-like facility designed to train a world-class striker. The Nagi episode is a spin-off and follows the prodigiously but unmotivated Seishiro Nagi.

We are in the final component of Hinata’s adventure “to the top”. The volleyball anime has come to an end, and instead, a two-part movie will end at least part of the story. The battle at the dump follows the highly anticipated encounter between Karasuno de Hinata and his historic rival Nekoma as they fight to advance to the final stages of the National Championship.

Look Back, based on a manga by Chainsaw Man author Tatsuki Fujimoto, may be one of the latent hits of the year.

The film follows the story of Kyomoto and Fujuno, two rivals who have friends united thanks to their fondness for manga drawing. The first trailer already announced a nostalgic and melancholic adventure based on their shared love for the medium and the first reactions described it as an emotional masterpiece. Hopefully, we can, uh, expect a Western release very soon.

After an explosion traps a small town, teenager Masamune encounters an elderly woman in a position that is trapped in time. With sunglasses from the recent COVID lockdown and isolation, this is an animated film that will arrive close to home for many people.

The fourth My Hero Academia featurette takes place in the anime’s sixth season and sees Deku come into contact with a mysterious figure posing as the mythical hero All-Might. However, there is no Western release date yet.

Set over a decade in Momonga’s adventures in his favorite MMORPG, the Overlord movie sees the Sacred Kingdom on the brink of “ruining” and Momonga combating the hordes of forces unleashed by the Demon Emperor.

Where to Watch L’Imaginaire: Netflix

“A young woman and her imaginary partner notice a magical world of creatures and places never seen before, but a sinister force threatens to destroy it,” reads the synopsis of The Imaginary, a new animated fantasy adventure from a studio that can count on Studio Ghibli. Producers and animators within their team.

The Imaginary marks the start of a “multi-film partnership” between Netflix and Studio Ponoc, and we’re excited to see what this deal has in store for us in the years to come.

Where to watch Ultraman: Rising: Netflix

The ultra-popular Ultraman may not be familiar to many in the West, but to the Japanese, the alien is a familiar figure and pop culture icon.

Then Ultraman: Rising will be a wonderful arrival for newcomers. It centers on a baseball player who works as a superhero, who has to take care of the kaiju’s offspring after defeating his mother. The new poster features the adorable baby boy and shows a June release date.

This next small batch is among the biggest names on the list, but may not release in 2024. However, it’s worth mentioning them here so we can give you the full picture.

Slightly surprising, Chainsaw Man won’t be getting a second season, at least not yet. The manga’s next arc (affectionately titled Bomb Girl by readers) will be adapted into a movie. It will continue the bloody and horrible journeys of Denji, who dies and fuses with the evil dog Pochita to form Chainsaw Man. Naturally.

Demon Slayer comes to an end with a trilogy of films that adapt the Infinity Castle arc. A date has not been given yet, but we expect plenty of confrontations as Tanjiro and the remaining Hashira are dragged into Muzan Kiyetsuji’s titular Infinity Castle in this final act.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will adapt the Culling Games arc, in which new sorcerers and wizards compete in a war royale style tournament.  

While we’re still hoping for a 2024 release, nothing has been shown yet for One-Punch Man’s return.

It’s been a minute, but we hope to see more of Saitama and his penchant for taking down supervillains with, you guessed it, a single punch. The hype around the series has died down a bit, but a new trailer has not only raised our expectations but also suggests that we could see One-Punch Man season 3 on our screens very soon.
