There’s been a disappointing lack of new Disney Plus movies recently. January 17 was the last time that a new film joined the streamer’s back catalog in the UK, and you have to go back a full month to find the last one that was released in the US.
Still, with February finally replacing January, things are due to ramp back up soon. Indeed, there are a number of new movies set to join Disney Plus’ film ranks in the next few weeks, including the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in The Marvels.
If you’ve already streamed all the entries on this list, you can also find a greater variety of movies in our most productive Disney Plus movie guide, which deserve to help you until the movie library of one of the world’s most productive streaming facilities is available. updated in the coming weeks. For now, it’s all the new Disney Plus movies that arrived in January (NB: US users are not going to be able to get the better of them). U. S. customers can only watch certain movies on this list through Hulu, so they want to subscribe to that service to stream them in the U. S. U. S. Homeland
The latest addition to our new Disney Plus movie guide, Gareth Edwards’ new sci-fi exhibit (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Godzilla) blew us away visually when it hit theaters in September 2023. If you missed The Creator last year, you can now watch it in all its cinematic glory on the biggest home screen possible.
And it is necessary. The $100 million raised through The Creator belies its epic length and scope, even though its story is made up of giant strokes of iconic sci-fi dishes we’ve noticed before. In fact, the release of its first trailer led us to compare it. to Terminator, Star Wars, and The Last of Us, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to see other people bemoaning its plot as its weakest part.
Still, its stunning visuals and vast world-building are worth keeping an eye on. And if her generic story doesn’t bother you, you deserve to have a smart time with her. Here’s a quick synopsis, for those interested: Washington plays Joshua Taylor, a former Army sergeant who, in the midst of an ongoing war between humans and synthetic intelligence, hunts down the latter’s “Creator,” a supposed superweapon that can turn the tide of a decades-long conflict. However, when Taylor discovers the individual in question, he is forced to confront his own humanity and whether he is fighting for the right side.
The first movie in Fox’s now-defunct X-Men film series is now available to stream in the US (it was already watchable in the UK and Australia). And, given the up-and-down nature of the iconic mutants’ movie collection, this one is particularly worth your while.
It’s a bit vulgar in terms (it’s an early 21st-century cinematic discussion for you) but, overall, it holds up. This gave us beautifully learned (and portrayed!) characters in Jackman’s Wolverine, McKellen’s Magneto, and Stewart’s Professor X, all of whom have continued to make those mythical super-powered Americans their own for the ensuing 24 years. Its story also encompasses similar themes of xenophobia, its action sequences are artistic and funny, and it’s also strangely poignant at times. Oh, and it’s one of the first films produced by Kevin Feige, which put him on track to become the steward of the cinematic giant known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
With Fox’s X-Men universe set to get a fitting (and likely humorously R-rated) send-off in the highly anticipated Marvel Phase 5 movie Deadpool 3, the arrival of 2000’s X-Men on Disney Plus is most welcome. For more mutant-based movie coverage, find out how to watch the X-Men movies in order.
As mentioned, there haven’t been many new Disney Plus movies to check out in recent times. If you’ve made it this far, you’ll have noticed that there have only been two new movies launching on the platform since 2024 began.
Fortunately, things change very soon. The Marvels, the latest MCU and Marvel Phase 5 film, was given a February 2024 release date after its terrible box office in late January, so it will soon be released on the streaming service. It will also be joined by several other titles, which you can watch through the new Disney Plus movie list below.
