Nola pitches 7 goalless in Filis’ 6-2 win over Mets

PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Rhys Hoskins rocked a crisis with a three-race double, Jean Segura hit a home run and Aaron Nola pitched seven blank innings to lead the Philadelphia Phillies to a 6-2 win over the New York Mets on Saturday night.

Once a fearless toletero, Hoskins has noticed that his production declined dramatically since the All-Star break last season and the dignity of his position in the lineup has been a factor for manager Joe Girardi.

“I’m worried about Rhys,” Girardi said before the game.

He’s on to something. Hoskins opened the game in the fifth with a right-hand shot steven Matz (0-4) who cleared the scoring and gave the Phillies a 5-0 lead. Hoskins has scored 18 home runs in just 50 games in 2017, 34 in 2018 and 29 last year, but does not have one this season. He has only had one race this year and tied an ignominious franchise record this week when he hit three doubles plays in a game.

Matz allowed 8 races opposed to the Nationals in his last outing and gave the impression of having imagined it at the beginning of the game. Segura hit a solo home race at the time for the 1-0 lead, but it was the only shot that allowed the left-hander until the fifth.

He gave a walk-based Andrew McCutchen (just hitting Array184) with the bases full before allowing Hoskins, his average around Array200 throughout the season, to break his double. Hoskins scored with Bryce Harper’s first-headed glide toward the base at the moment for a double producer and a 6-0 lead. That’s for Matz.

Nola (2-1) threw a three-shot ball and struck out 8 in his seven innings.

Nola left his last opposite start to Baltimore after allowing an eight-inning run. Two relievers allowed seven runs in the ninth and the Phillies endured for a 13-8 victory.

Dominic Smith broke the bleaching with a two-race houser in the ninth, his fourth consecutive home race.

The Phillies won the first two games of the series after Harper’s RBI singles in the ninth inning led to a 6-5 win on Friday. The Phillies are 7-9, and in a season in which they will be behind in the wave of playoffs, they know they had to leave.

“I think we want to make hay in the next 10 days,” Girardi said. “These are games. These two are Array I don’t want to look too far forward, but those games are Array»

METS MOVES

The Mets added C Francisco Alvarez and RHP Matthew Allan to their 60-man group and assigned them to their educational facility in Brooklyn, New York. Mets manager Luis Rojas said he needs players to be vigilant in case they’re in the big leagues.

“If we feel they can come and the team win at some point, then they can definitely come and do it,” he said.

COACH’S ROOM

Mets: INF/OF Jeff McNeil came out of the starting lineup after crashing into a wall and being pulled out of the area on Thursday. Rojas said McNeil “feels better” than Friday.

Phillies: Opener Spencer Howard lasted 3,33 innings on Friday before leaving due to a blister on his finger. Howard said he was hoping to make his next outing.

ON THE ROAD ONCE AGAIN

The Phillies finished the series opposing the Mets on Sunday, giving them 16 games at home and only one as visitors. This increases a little with nine days of games on the road (which includes a double) until they return home on August 28. Girardi said he would inform the team about the importance of staying on the road and not violating team protocols.

“I think it’s vital that our players are incredibly diligent,” he said. “We have a code of conduct. We’ll remind our players.”

Following

The Phillies sent RHP Zack Wheeler (92-0, 2.89 ERA) to the mound in front of New York RHP Rick Porcello (1-2, 5.68). Porcello allowed three runs in thirteen innings in his last two starts. He allowed 11 runs in six innings in his first two.
