Oppenheimer’s director, Christopher Nolan, and his Emma Thomas will earn the titles of knight and dame.

Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan will be knighted, according to government filings.

His wife, film producer Emma Thomas, will be a lady.

Filmmaker Nolan won the director’s Oscar this month for his Oppenheimer biopic about the “father of the atomic bomb,” which also gained image and swept awards season.

In the past, Nolan had been nominated for six Academy Awards, but had never won an Oscar for directing before this year’s ceremony.

Born in London to a British father and an American mother, Nolan studied English at University College London and opted for UCL for its film facilities.

It was also there that he met his wife of many years, Thomas, with whom he had 4 children.

Nolan, 53, and Thomas, 52, have collaborated on all of their major feature films, The Dark Knight trilogy, 2010’s Inception, 2014’s Interstellar, 2017’s Dunkirk and 2020’s Tenet.

The pair co-founded and runs a production company, Syncopy, which includes several of their blockbusters.

Nolan explained in The Afterlife that his wife “also saw things the same way I did in terms of the importance of the medium. “

When Nolan received the British Film Institute (BFI) scholarship for being “one of the most innovative and influential filmmakers in the world,” he credited his wife.
