WEST CHESTER, Pa. – AMC Theatres announced Thursday that more than a hundred of its cinemas will reopen until 20 August, and 300 cinemas will reopen between 27 August and 3 September after months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As an added benefit, the movie theater chain said visitors would pay 15 cents according to the film on August 20.
AMC said that after the first hundred reopenings, three hundred theaters will open in two weeks with the releases of Disney’s main films “The New Mutants” on August 28 and Warner Bros. Records. “Tenet” on September 3.
AMC closed all of its cinemas in March and several reopening plans were abandoned amid a coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
AMC Theatres has 27 locations in Pennsylvania.
“We are excited to reopen our doors to American viewers for the opportunity to get out of their homes and apartments and escape the magic of cinema,” said Adam Aron, executive director and president of AMC Theatres.
After first noting in June that visitors would not have to wear a mask when cinemas reopened, AMC Theatres cancelled the policy after an online reaction. All visitors must wear a mask at all times, food and beverages.
The corporation also announced a number of conditioning and protection policies that will be in place in response to coronavirus guidelines, adding fewer touchpoints, simplified menus for shorter lines in concessions, and reduced auditorium capacity for social estrangement. AMC Theatres stated that the costs of 15 cents (plus sales taxes) would not be held until August 20 to celebrate the company’s centenary with “Films in 2020 at the 1920 Awards”. Although providing all available seats, to succeed in a social distance, the seating capacity will be particularly reduced, according to the company.
AMC Theatres will also begin implementing a $5 price ticket promotion in the coming weeks and months with recoil titles such as the tenth anniversary of “Inception”, “Black Panther”, “Back to the Future”, “Ghostbusters”.
