After a year of waiting due to COVID-19 for the Tokyo Games, the Olympic Games have resumed their same schedule as always. The world’s athletes worked tirelessly to build themselves and their country, hoping to win gold. The 33rd edition of the Fashion Summer Olympics began with an approximately four-hour opening ceremony in Paris, France, on July 26, 2024. Paris is the second city in the world, after London, to host the Olympic Games three times, since it was already the headquarters in 1900 and 1924.

Paris 2024 will take place across France, with events taking place in 16 additional cities across mainland France and a venue in Tahiti, French Polynesia. This wonderful event will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. There are many viewing options, with NBC’s Peacock being the exclusive host network for the Olympic Games in the United States. Several NBCUniversal channels, including CNBC, Golf Channel, USA Network and MSNBC, will broadcast a host of express events, ensuring express coverage for fans.

Keep in mind that Paris is six hours ahead of United States Eastern Time and nine hours ahead of Pacific Time, which means that most events will be broadcast early in the morning in the United States. To satisfy viewers, NBC will broadcast two Olympic broadcasts: one in prime time in Paris and one in the classic prime time in the United States.

From drizzle to torrential, incessant rain, the opening rite of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics was a wet affair. Athletes and spectators took out their ponchos, tarps and umbrellas, but many still found themselves soaked. Despite the pouring rain, the crowd remained cheerful, watching the spectacle unfold along the Seine, as the Olympic athletes paraded down the river with enthusiasm and pride.

This year has been unusually rainy for Paris, and the trend continued on Friday, July 26. Although the sky was grey with sporadic drizzles in the afternoon, the Parisian sky briefly cleared at the start of the ceremony, only for the overcast sky to recede as the occasion progressed along the river. Some athletes were better prepared than others to face the weather, but no one let the rain ruin their morale or enthusiasm.

Things to do:

Long, charming and inspiring, a parade of boats that brought together 6,800 athletes from 205 national delegations floated along a stretch of approximately 6. 7 miles of the Seine. This Olympic access marked a historic moment as it was the first modern Olympic opening rite organized outdoors in a stadium. As they crossed the river, the athletes saw iconic landmarks, such as the Grand Palace and other famous sites. Although the rain was unfortunate for such a historic event, everyone persevered, making the day even more memorable. The spirit and enthusiasm of the participants shone through, transforming a rainy day into an extraordinary and unforgettable celebration.

Greece led the parade, with NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo proudly displaying the flag. As culture dictates, Greece, birthplace of the Olympic Games 3,000 years ago, opens the ceremony. The following delegations proceeded in alphabetical order according to their French names.

The American team, which appeared second to last in the parade along the Seine, included porters Coco Gauff and LeBron James. Gauff, the 2023 US Open tennis champion, made history as the youngest American flag bearer at age 20 and the first tennis player to earn the honor. James, 40, brought his Olympic fun to the City of Light, having competed in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Games.

Children around the world continue to ask this question

James’ first Olympic appearance came after winning the Rookie of the Year award in the 2003–04 NBA season, where he was the youngest member of the 12-man team that won bronze in Athens. His subsequent appearances in 2008 and 2012 led the U. S. team to the U. S. team. The U. S. to win gold medals. Now, as he potentially enters his ultimate Olympic career, James continues to inspire, as he turns 40 in December.

As the host country, the French ship sank last, ending the 2024 parade. As the French delegation passed by, the Eiffel Tower lit up the evening sky, hours before its usual illumination. The U. S. team’s ship got a stunning glimpse of this iconic moment, adding to the charm of the historic ceremony.

In the latter part of the ceremony, the torch lit the cauldron, a giant hot air balloon that soared into the evening sky. Moving away from the culture that cauldrons are anchored at the Summer and Winter Games, Paris opted to create an exclusive show. This particular gesture paid tribute to the first flight in a hydrogen-filled fuel balloon made in 1783 by its French inventors.

While the illusion indicated that the cauldron was flying, it was clinging to the ground, appearing to be in the air. The balloon itself was not a classic hot air balloon and its flame was electric. Designed by French artist Mathieu Lehanneur, the cauldron symbolized freedom, adding a deep touch to French history.

Celine Dion makes an unforgettable appearance! The French-Canadian icon dazzled Olympic participants with a stunning performance after she lit the cauldron. From the Eiffel Tower, she delivered a moving rendition of Edith Piaf’s “Hymn to Love,” marking her first performance since her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome was announced. in 2022. The performance was moving, not only because of the conviction of her voice but also because of Dion’s inspiring story.

The performance, in the ancient context of the Eiffel Tower, was an ordinary and moving moment. Dion, who has been deprived of her life-changing illness, has begun to open up more since the release of her 2024 documentary, “I Am: Celine Dion. “Stiff user syndrome is a chronic and rare neurological disorder that causes severe muscle spasms, which can vary in severity and restrict body movement and speech.

Her appearance had been teased for weeks, but Dion and her team kept her performance a secret until the last moment. At the end of the four-hour opening ceremony, her performance left the Olympic athletes and enthusiasts stunned and impressed.

Before and at the opening ceremony, many stars contributed to the torch relay, including Snoop Dogg and Salma Hayek. Serena Williams, one of the world’s greatest tennis players, joined Carl Lewis and others to carry the flame in the water to its final stages. The participation added a touch of star power and excitement to the event.

More than two hundred national teams will compete in 329 events spread over 19 days. Certain occasions, such as rugby, began on the 24th of the 26th. It is interesting to note that new disciplines were incorporated into the Olympic Games: skateboarding, surfing, breakdancing and sport climbing. These additions aim to capture the interest of a new generation and broaden the appeal of the Games.

Not all events initially took place in Paris. For example, basketball matches at the organizational level are played at the Pierre Mauroy stadium in Lille, France, while the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals are held at the Bercy Arena in Paris. The handball tournament will play its first organizational matches at the South Paris Arena, and the final phase will take place in Lille.
