The director of a new film starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott has said that the protagonists were “really in love with each other” during the filming of the film.
Andrew Haigh is the director of the upcoming romance All Of Us Strangers.
It sees the two main characters, Adam (Scott) and Harry (Mescal), meet and fall in love while Adam is about to waste his parents.
During the film, screenwriter Adam returns to the home of his formative years, where his parents lived as they were 30 years ago when they died. His parents are played by Jamie Bell and Claire Foy.
The film, which will be released in the UK in January, is loosely based on Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel Strangers.
Speaking about the film at a recent Q&A in Los Angeles, Haigh described a night he had with Mescal, 27, and Scott, 47, where the duo’s chemistry was evident.
The British filmmaker said of their night together at a concert: “I can tell they were in love with each other because they completely ignored me for most of the day.
“They just talked and hugged. It can be said that they enjoyed each other. And they’re still smart friends now.
Haigh said his on- and off-screen dates are a testament to his professionalism. “If you can find actors who need to work together, who care about running together, there is already chemistry because they looked for it to be the most productive, it may just be that way. ” “.
The director has in the past described Scott and Mescal as “fearless” when it comes to the film’s sex scenes.
“They knew what they were like,” he said in an interview with Vanity Fair.
Mescal and Scott are the stars nominated for the 2023 British Independent Film Awards (Bifas) for the film.
All Of Us Strangers earned 14 nominations: Scottish actor Fleabag was nominated for Best Performance in a Leading Role, while Normal People’s Mescal was nominated for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
The film is also nominated for Best British Independent Film.
Claire Foy of The Crown and Billy Elliot’s Jamie Bell, who play Adam from mother and father Scott, are nominated for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
All of Us Strangers will be released in U. S. theaters. The U. S. will meet on Dec. 22, followed by a U. K. date on Jan. 26.
