In case you didn’t know, a Minecraft movie is already in production through Legendary Pictures, Mojang, and Vertigo Entertainment, with a release date set for April 4, 2025.
Directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite, Masterminds), the film will star Jason Mamoa, Danielle Brooks and Jennifer Coolidge, as it reunites Hess with Jack Black after their work together on the 2006 comedy Nacho Libre. Information about Minecraft’s plot is scarce. For the time being, we know that the movie will stay relatively true to the game’s visual aesthetic.
How? Because someone just went and discovered a flowering Minecraft tree, here’s how. Yes, user X (formerly Twitter) @joshspace2 managed to snap some pictures of a prop tree from the movie discovered near a studio where production was taking place (thanks, GoNintendo).
It’s hard to believe this is being used for anything else (unless someone managed to sneak a blocky tree somewhere in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire; strange things have happened), so it’s a moderate assumption that this is being used lately. The Minecraft production team.
The release date is still a bit far away (around a year, in fact), so it’s unlikely we’ll see any official photographs or images of the film for at least a few months. I can’t wait to see more after this!

I hope the Minecraft movie hits those trees with my bare hands.
Of course, there will be trees. Otherwise, how will the protagonists drill into tree trunks to get the wood for their first tools?
These corporations were so involved in the question of whether they could or not, that they didn’t ask whether they should or not.
I’m more hopeful about that than I am about Zelda lol.
Since he hates trees, then I’ll have to avoid watching this movie.
These look pretty good. And it’s great to see that they’re correct physical props instead of filtering everything in green.
It looks. . . Surprisingly pretty, actually. I don’t know how they managed to make the visual flavor paintings in live action, but. . . Somehow, they did.
Good to know. This confirms that the Minecraft movie was shot on Earth.
OMG, I freaked out when a live-action Minecraft movie was announced, but then Jack Black came along and I thought “phew, now it’s fine. “AND THE TREES! The Best Movie of 2025
Now I need to know which videos don’t feature trees.
Didn’t authenticate the date? If the movie is going to be genuine action, I shudder to see what it’s going to look like if it’s all just blocks.
The main character revealed, this should be marked as spoiler > (jk)
I’d be surprised if the movie features Creepers.
/sarcasm
It’s a promising set design. . . as long as it looks neat. But, to be honest, I don’t see you running in a movie with genuine people. “Live action Minecraft” seemed like a very bad concept to me lol.
Maybe they want more than one? Unless it’s the last surviving tree, after the others have been torn to pieces. ¡Oh. . . That’s the plot! ?
@BetaRabbit64 wouldn’t you be surprised and surprised?
Jason Momoa hitting trees is what I have to see.
@carlos82 Duna2! Oh wait, there are scenes on Earth. There’s one in “Fury Road. “
Will there be trees? Well, it’s decided, the most productive movie of 2025 will be Minecraft!✋??
I hope this movie plays out like a Minecraft read for 3 hours.
@Boo_Boy52 Oh, yes, moved.
@carlos82 Extraterrestrial?
Hold on. . . All the while, I think it’s going to be an animated movie. Is it live action? I can’t wait to see the legend, Jack Black, pound trees with his bare hands.
Minecraft is the kind of game I enjoy playing, but all things considered, and also since none of my kids like Minecraft, I don’t have a preference for watching a movie ? ? about it.
Omigosh his action Omigoshomigosh
@carlos82 Alien, Blade Runner, Star Wars, The Thing
It’s been years since I’ve noticed one, so I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure it’s a genuine tree, not an accessory.
