Reese Witherspoon, Viola Davis, more celebs share memes to show how they’re managing 2020

Celebrities, we may not want to watch you sing “Imagine” in selfie videos or “take responsibility” for racism in a black-and-white PSA right now, but sure, we’ll laugh at your memes. Thanks!

As we enter August, stars including Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling are taking a look back at the moods they’ve experienced over each month of what has been an emotional and unprecedented year. To illustrate their feelings, they’re using photos of their own faces, taken from iconic film and TV roles, and turning them into a 2020 meme.

“What a time!” Zoey Deschanel says in the caption of her post.

“This was oddly cathartic,” writes Jennifer Garner about making a grid of her extreme facial expressions.

Witherspoon appeared to start the meme among famous actresses with her photos from movie roles that went from put-together Elle in “Legally Blonde,” to overwhelmed and exhausted Cheryl in “Wild.”

Kaling included a photo of herself, as herself, looking lovely at the Oscars and on the cover of her book. And then the images got more disheveled, with scenes from “The Mindy Project” and “The Office.”

Garner embellished the photos of herself with a mask, and then a ghost and hats for the forthcoming holidays.

Kerry Washington got creative with a fresh image for each month. August is looking bleak.

Viola Davis followed suit, even including stills with tears falling down her cheeks.

Hannah Simone doesn’t expect to be able to see through her bangs soon.
