NORTH WALES, PA – AMC Theaters will reopen its location in North Wales on 27 August, the company announced thursday, adding that more than a hundred of its halls will reopen until 20 August.
Reopening occurs after months of closure due to the existing coronavirus crisis. Another three hundred cinemas are expected to reopen between 27 August and 3 September. AMC closed all of its cinemas in March and several reopening plans were abandoned amid the coronavirus outbreak in the United States.
AMC Theatres has 26 locations in Pennsylvania. In the county, Plymouth Meeting Mall is scheduled to reopen on August 20.
“We are thrilled to reopen our doors to American viewers for the opportunity to leave their homes and apartments and escape the magic of cinema,” Adam Aron, executive director and president of AMC Theatres, said in a statement.
After first noting in June that visitors would not have to wear a mask when theaters reopened, AMC Theaters canceled the policy after an online reaction. All visitors must wear a mask at all times, food and beverages.
The corporation also announced a number of conditioning and protection policies that will be in position in reaction to coronavirus guidelines, adding fewer touchpoints, simplified menus for shorter lines in concessions, and reduced auditorium capacity for social estrangement. AMC Theatres stated that the value of tickets at 15 cents (plus sales tax) would not be available until August 20 to celebrate the company’s centenary with “Films in 2020 worth 1920”.
