Richland County Park District commemorates 25 years of operation in many ways: others can take a virtual tour of the entire trail by watching a short video on Destination Mansfield Richland County B’s YouTube page

From September 12 to the anniversary, there will be a series of 25 daily messages on the Richland County Parks District’s Facebook page, which contains data on trail sites and history.

A data board will be available on the following dates and locations where commemorative stickers, posters, and trail maps will be obtained in order of arrival.

Millsboro Road Parking: September 7 a. m. to noon;

Lexington Trail parking area: September 26 a. m. at noon;

Bellville Bike Depot: September 30 starting in the afternoon. At 6 pm . ;

Butler Hitchman Park: October 4, morning at noon;

A special commemorative sign is also placed at the beginning of the trail.

On Tuesday, Trail manager Michael Solon said this year’s passenger numbers had run out due to COVID-19.

“We are pleased to be here,” he said from Butler on the track.

Solon said that 90% of the maintenance of the motorcycle tracks is done through volunteers to which he thanks quite a lot.

Lee Tasseff, president of Destination Mansfield, said the motorcycle trail has fabulous charm in Richland County.

“When COVID-19 arrived, we created a takeaway menu page and everything for locals,” he said DestinationMansfield. com. “Our readers on the online page are much more local than ever. We started looking for what trends were on the pages visited and what other people were looking for on our online page. . . The most sensitive things on the list were the motorcycle trail and that recovery component,” he said.

“And other people were starting to look for things to do outdoors in their own communities,” he added.

“More and more out-of-town audiences returned to our site in May to do things outdoors,” Tasseff said. “From May to August, there were pages of motorcycle trails and motorcycle trails and hiking trails, which were among the maximum number of pages visited.

“It has been a wonderful asset to the network, but with COVID-19, it has allowed anyone to escape the city. It is easy to access,” he added.

Every time Tasseff took to the track this summer, he noticed some or more of the license plates reaching outside of the county.

Funds for the operation and maintenance of the trails are provided through Richland County commissioners. Most trail maintenance activities are carried out through volunteers who are committed to keeping the trail open and usable through walkers, runners and cyclists.
