(RTTNews) – Rio Tinto (RTPPF. PK, RIO. L, RIO, RTNTF. PK) said he had cut his subtle copper production forecast by 2020 due to a delay in restarting a smelter at his Kennecott mine in Utah.
The company stated that the mine had experienced delays in restarting the smelter due to post-planned maintenance unrest. The company expects the foundry to be fully operational in two months.
As a result, Rio Tinto now expects production of the subtle copper group by 2020 to be between 135,000 tonnes and 175,000 tonnes, compared to an earlier forecast of 165,000 tons at 205,000 tonnes.
