The company, a new off-road vehicle described as an opponent of the Land Rover Defender has revealed that it is certain that the vehicle will now be produced in France rather than in the UK.
Ineos Automotive is about to build its Grenadier 4×4 at a former Mercedes-Benz plant in northern France, near the German border, which in Bridgend, south Wales.
Ineos Automotive is a branch of the chemist Ineos.
This happened after the founder and president of Ineos, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, produced a vehicle nicknamed the non-secular successor to the former Land Rover Defender.
Production of the former Defender ended at the Land Rover plant in Solihull in January 2016, but it was three and a half years before his successor was introduced.
Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019, the new Defender was recently released, but is far from the global style it has replaced.
Ineos Automotive is creating a flexible SUV to fill the void left by the disappearance of the former Defender.
The company had planned to assemble its off-road vehicle at a new 250,000-square-foot facility in Bridgend as a component of an investment that created 500 jobs.
I had plans for a chassis production plant in Portugal for the Grenadier project.
However, last month, Ineos suspended the paintings in the projects after confirming that discussions had begun to obtain the former Mercedes-Benz plant in Hambach, France.
Switching to a singles plant in France would save the allocation of tens of millions of pounds.
Today, Ineos Automotive proved that it expects the assignment to be only in France.
In a statement, the company said: “Ineos Automotive is in complex talks with Mercedes-Benz to acquire its production in Hambach, on the French border with Germany in Moselle.
“While the agreement has still been reached, we are sure that the terms will be agreed and that the new Grenadier space will be in France.
“Hambach is a perfect solution for Ineos, with a very experienced and correct track record among Mercedes factories for the quality of production of its products. “
The Government of Wales said it could simply comment on the amount of cash it had invested to date to support the Bridgend project, as well as the overall package that would have been reduced as jobs were created.
However, it is understood that with site preparation as well as road infrastructure, the Welsh government has spent about five million pounds on the allocation to date.

Seeking praise from Ineos Automotive, a Welsh government spokesman said: “We have invested a lot of time and cash in this allocation and, we deserve the stage to rise and Ineos to make the decision not to invest more in Wales, of course let’s look for the right prices of the company. “
Ineos was asked if he will pay the won of the Welsh government for his now deserted assignment in Bridgend.
