Rocksteady ‘Suicide Squad’, its first post-Arkham DC game, raises questions

The anticipation has been building for five years while everyone hopes to see what DC’s next rocksteady game will be after the well-known Arkham series. And the rumors and recent leaks were true, it’s a Suicide Squad game, as revealed in a tweet this morning.

The symbol shows Superman with a target in his head, the title is “Target Blocked”.

This corresponds to previous reports that this game can be called Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, founded on a domain name registered in the past. Now, even if the game isn’t called that, it actually turns out that killing the Justice League is on the agenda, judging by this first breakthrough. I guess we’ll see other “target” posters like this with other heroes in it, Batman, Wonder Woman, etc.

It’s an attractive concept, and in theory, the concept turns out to be that the game’s “boss” are the heroes of the Justice League, returning the same old formula from an endless parade of supervillains in his head, which we experienced at the Arkham Games.

But the Game aimed at Suicide Squad raises many questions.

First, who would play the lead role? Over the years, Suicide Squad has introduced many villains. The most vital in those days would be Deadshot and Harley Quinn, the stars of the film Suicide Squad DCEU. Harley has already appeared in The Arkham Games, and is spending a “moment” right now between the portrait of Margot Robbie and his animated series DC Universe. It’s a simple forward-looking choice.

But options? In the past, Suicide Squad has featured characters such as Joker, Doctor Light, Enchantress, Poison Ivy, Killer Croc, Bronze Tiger, Killer Frost, Captain Boomerang, Cheetah, King Shark and many more.

This raises an apparent question. Is this a multiplayer game? Are we entering the territory of Crystal Dynamics Avengers while deploying with a suicide team …? It would be a little strange to have the “team dynamics” without it, and it’s hard to see a full game through just being told, Harley Quinn, while supported by the NPCs. The concept of a Suicide Squad game makes you shout multiplayer from the start, which would obviously be a wild start from Arkham.

The teaser is shown when we see the start of the game, on August 22, on the occasion DC FanDome (obviously, all virtual). That was the most likely plan, but yes, I’d expect to see other teasers like Superman as we get closer. I have no idea what Rocksteady is going to do with this concept, however, it sounds pretty exciting, and probably more than just uttering a Superman game or something.
