Former President Trump makes a special announcement related to his candidacy for office.
Former President Trump announced Monday that Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, would be his running mate and vice presidential nominee in the 2024 election.
“After much deliberation and reflection, and given the immense talent of many others, I have that the most productive user to serve as Vice President of the United States is Senator J. D. Vance of the wonderful state of Ohio,” Trump announced in an article on Social Truth.
Trump noted that Vance served in the Marine Corps and “graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Laude, and graduated from Yale Law School, where he was editor of the Yale Law Journal and president of Yale Law Veterans. “Association. “

Vance, 39, has been a member of the United States Senate for just over a year and part of it after defeating Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan in the 2022 election. During his tenure, he was known for his populist perspectives on economics and foreign policy.
He rose to fame after the 2016 publication of his memoir, “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis. ” The e-book chronicles her upbringing in Middletown, Ohio, her family’s background in Kentucky, and the poverty and cultural issues facing Appalachia.
The book was later adapted into a film through Netflix, titled “Hillbilly Elegy,” directed by Ron Howard and starring Glenn Close and Amy Adams.

Vance graduated from Yale Law School in 2013, went on to work at a company, and then moved to San Francisco to work in venture capital, joining Peter Thiel’s Mithril Capital between 2016 and 2017.
He then joined Revolution LLC, AOL co-founder Steve Case’s investment firm, where his role focused on the company’s “Rise of the Rest” initiative that aimed to offer investments to early-stage companies in regions outside of Silicon Valley and other technological corporate paradises.

Vance co-founded a venture capital firm in Cincinnati in 2019 called Narya Capital, with an initial investment through Thiel, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and investor Marc Andreessen, who co-founded prominent Silicon Valley venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, Palantir Technologies and Founders Fund, was a prominent backer of Vance’s Senate crusade and donated $10 million to a super PAC supporting his candidacy.
