Outdoor movie screenings are a staple of summer in Chicago, and with the most theaters closed lately, theaters have given the impression of the city. Now, the Chicago Park District is getting into the madness of drive-ins, delivering a series of six parking projections that will be inscribed in the Movies in the Parks lineup announced in the past.
Each screening will have limited capacity and will require pre-registration through the Movies in the Parks website, and registrations will open one week before each drive-in projection. Parking lots will be open to registered participants at 7 p.m. and screenings will begin at 8 p.m. Each car will be assigned a seat with a six-foot perimeter compared to other vehicles, inviting visitors to stay in their car during screenings. According to a chicago Park District statement, “parkhouses and bathrooms won’t be screened in parks,” so you probably shouldn’t drink a bottle of water during the film.
The diversity of films shown in those behind-the-wheel screenings includes older comedies such as Cooley High and The Last Dragon, such as the recent adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time. Check out the full car video schedule in the Chicago Park District below.
