Then comes Jamie Oliver’s impressive £6 million nude Essex mansion, which costs around £32,000 a year in energy costs – with an Aga to boot.
Ed Sheeran’s collection of Suffolk assets, dubbed “Sheeranville,” which includes a pool, pub and recording studio, is helping to make your energy bill $21,418.
But celebrity spending is overshadowed by spending on Buckingham Palace, estimated at around £1.1 million a year.
Sarah Broomfield, an expert at Uswitch.com, said: “Celebrity or not, there is merit in reducing the amount of energy you use.
“Sometimes it can be as undeniable as the end windows or turning off the lights when you leave the room.
For Sir Elton, it may just be a drop in his pool temperature.
