Six years after its release, the beloved animated film Batman Ninja is getting a wonderful sequel.
According to Crunchyroll, Koichi Yamadera will reprise his role as Batman in Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League, with Junpei Mizusaki returning to direct. Shinji Takagi will co-direct, with a script through Kazuki Nakashima and character design through Takashi Okazaki.
Batman Ninja was released digitally in the United States and in theaters in Japan, with each release containing two other scripts and resulting in two “very different versions” of the same movie. The flagship film, which has a new 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes, “takes an adventure through the ages as Gorilla Grodd’s time-scrolling device transports many of Batman’s worst enemies to feudal Japan, along with the Dark Knight and some of his allies. ”
The American cast included Tara Strong (Raven from Teen Titans, Dill Pickles from Rugrats and Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls), Boy Meets World actor Will Friedle, SpongeBob himself Tom Kenny and Avatar: Matthew Yang King from Avatar: The Last Airbender. So far, Yamadera is the voice actor shown to be returning for the sequel.
Batman Nina vs Yakuza League does not yet have a release date, although more details about the new film are expected to be revealed at the Warner Bros. panel. Japan presents Suicide Squad ISEKAI and Batman Ninja vs Yakuza League at Anime Expo 2024 in July.
