Sony Pictures Television has promoted Andrew Plotkin to head of drama development.

Plotkin was once senior vice president of drama series development at Sony TV. The promotion comes after former head of drama series progression Lauren Stein was promoted to the newly created position of artistic lead at Sony Pictures Television Studios. Plotkin will continue to report to Stein as he oversees the progression of all scripted drama series at the studio.

“Andrew, a leader with a unique ability to encourage citations across all segments of the business, has built a strong artistic foundation for original programming and intellectual homes that pave the way for long-term series expansion and maintenance,” Stein said. Andrew’s enthusiasm, entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional artistic intuition have contributed immensely to the realisation of these complex and challenging projects. Andrew has been a friend and colleague of mine for over 20 years, and I couldn’t be happier that our relationship is continuing.

Since then, he has been involved in the progression of shows like “The Boys” and its spin-offs on Amazon, as well as the recently released “Goosebumps” series on Disney. His other paintings include the Spider-Man Universe Shown in Progression and the “God of War” series, all set on Amazon’s Prime Video, as well as the Netflix series “Horizon Zero Dawn,” among others.

Plotkin came to Sony from All In Media, a production company he founded that focuses on packaging intellectual resources and generating original ideas. Prior to that, he was director of television at New Regency Productions and director of development at Syfy. He also worked at CCTV, Class IV Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
