Lauren Stein has been promoted to head of Sony Pictures Television, the department’s chair, Katherine Pope, said Tuesday.
Stein will oversee strategy, content and sales for the US scripted division. He will continue to report to Pope in the newly created role.
Drama and comedy development, TriStar Television, foreign co-productions and programming of existing series in their first year of production will be Stein’s umbrella.

During his 8 years at SPT, Stein helped the studio grow its portfolio of drama series and grow and diversify its group. He also landed several global deals and expanded the drama team’s executive department.
She joined SPT from Chernin Entertainment, where she was Senior Vice President of Drama Development. Prior to Chernin, Stein was vice president of drama programming at Universal Media Studios.
Stein began his television career at NBC, where he held various positions. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS).
