Spartacus: House Of Ashur: Everything We Know About the Starz Series

There have been a slew of expansions of beloved TV franchises in recent years, and we’ll soon have Spartacus: House of Ashur, a spin-off of Starz’s Spartacus. The drama brought all kinds of incredibly violent and bloody action and deaths to the small screen more than a decade ago, and now the popular series will be given new life with something that’s less of a sequel and more of a new branch in the timeline. Array’s upcoming series, which will be about Nick Tarabay’s hapless villain from the original series, has been in the works for a while now and we’re all very excited to see how it plays out.

But before that happens, we’ve combined a quick but comprehensive advisory for the upcoming Sword and Sandal TV show and the long-awaited return of one of the bloodiest series of the 21st century (seriously, the awful original series). With that said, let’s break down everything we know about Spartacus: House of Ashur.

At the moment, we don’t know when Spartacus: House of Ashur will debut on the small screen as Starz has not yet revealed a release date. Since we haven’t heard anything about production, there’s a strong chance we won’t see the franchise going back to 2025. That said, we’ll be sure to update this in the coming weeks and months, as soon as we know. Anything about the first or even in an exit window.

Like the original series, the cast of Spartacus: House of Ashur will be massive and full of immensely talented actors. With a mix of returning stars and new actors, there’s a lot to look forward to with this one. Let’s see them now.

In November 2023, Starz announced that Nick Tarabay would lead the cast of Spartacus: House of Ashur as the villain he played all those years ago. Maybe we’ll see a new aspect of the character.

In July 2024, Deadline reported that Lucy Lawless, who played the scheming and witty Lucretia in the first Spartacus creation years ago, would reprise the role. It looks like we’ll see a lot more of the star of Xena: The Warrior Princess.

Graham McTavish leads the new additions to Spartacus: House of Ashur. In July 2024, Starz announced that the Outlander and House of the Dragon actor would play Korris, a former gladiator who now trains fighters in combat.

Tenika Davis, known for her paintings of Jupiter’s Legacy and Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, will play a talented gladiator known as Achillia.

Jamaica Vaughan will enter the scene as Hilara, a house slave hopelessly in love with series leader Ashur. In the past, Vaughn has appeared on shows like 800 Words and Home.

Ivana Bquero, known for her performance in Pan’s Labyrinth, will play Messia, a domestic slave in love with Hilara.

Jordi Webber will play Tarchon, a headstrong and fearless gladiator in the new series. His credits include Power Rangers, Ninja Steel, and Home.

Claudia Black, who has appeared on shows like NCIS, The Dresden Files, and Haven over the years, will play Cossutia, an ambitious politician with a certain disdain for Ashur.

India Shaw-Smith, who you would possibly play in Supernatural, will take on the role of Viridia, Cossutia’s daughter.

Leigh Gill, whose past credits come with Joker and Game of Thrones, will seem as Satyrus, the leader of a rival organization of gladiators.

Ashur died when the credits for Spartacus: Vengeance were released, but he still has his own spin-off series. How is that possible? Well, as stated in Starz’s press release related to the new series, it revealed that the series would raise two undeniable questions. First of all, what if Ashur hadn’t lost his mind on the most sensitive side of Mount Vesuvius all those years ago?Second, what if he had won the gladiatorial school of Batiatus in exchange for his help in defeating Spartacus and ending his rebellion?

These two questions open the door to many things and offer a “what if?” » really cool. Premise of the new show. Instead of being a retcon that acts as if the final season of Spartacus never happened, the spin-off will branch off in another direction and be just as impactful as Marvel’s animated What If. . . ? Series on Disney+.

Nick Tarabay and Lucy Lawless may not be the only people involved in the original series returning to Spartacus: House of Usher, as Steven S. DeKnight will be the showrunner. DeKnight, who worked on shows such as Daredevil and the short-lived Jupiter’s Legacy, as well as 2018’s Pacific Rim: Uprising, created, wrote and produced Spartacus when it originally aired.

In a November 2023 Starz press release regarding the series’ revival, DeKnight said it was a “unique and glorious opportunity” to be able to return to the series all these years later. It hasn’t been revealed if DeKnight will direct any of the episodes, but we deserve to know more soon.

We may not yet know who will appear on screen but Nick Tarabay, but we do know how many episodes will make up the first season of House of Ashur. When Starz picked up the series, the network announced that it had ordered 10 episodes, the same number as the final two seasons of the original series.

If the screen features as much violence, nudity, and other excessive imagery as its predecessor, it’s hard to believe that it has any other rating than TV-MA. Remember, Spartacus had a higher death count than Game of Thrones during its second season, averaging 25 corpses per episode when it aired in 2012. Then there was all the nudity, the foul language, and everything that made the original Starz series so wild. exconsistent experience.

It’s entirely possible that this is the start of anything in terms of a spin-off, as Steven S. DeKnight alluded to the global one he created about a decade and a half ago. Responding to a fan’s question about the long hiatus and whether there are any other concepts in progress in X (it’s anything he does regularly), DeKnight responded:

Honestly, there are so many characters from the original series that they can get their own spin-offs, especially if the franchise continued with the branching timelines here. Quintus Lentulus Batiatus, Lucretia, Crixus and many others would be clever themes for some other series.

In the same announcement revealing all the additions to the cast of Spartacus: House of Usher, Starz also announced that production on the series began in New Zealand in July 2024. The network did not reveal how long the shoot would last or if it would do so. So. solo will be set in New Zealand, but it will be big if it looks like the original series. Expect to hear a lot more very soon.

If you missed Spartacus when it aired in the 2010s, you’re out of luck as you can watch it on several of the most productive streaming services. First, the entire series airs on Starz (where you can also watch House of Ashur). You can also watch the presentation on the Roku channel, where the entire first season is free. Alternatively, if you have the Starz add-on with your Hulu subscription, you can watch all 4 seasons, but you’ll have to pay an additional monthly fee.

Expect to receive a lot more information about Spartacus: House of Ashur as the series progresses. While we wait for news on its production and potential release, keep an eye on the 2024 TV schedule to find out what new and returning shows will hit the small screen this year.

Philip grew up in Louisiana (not New Orleans) before moving to St. John’s. Louis after graduating from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. When he’s not writing about movies or TV, Philip can be seen being chased among his 3 children, telling his dogs to avoid barking at the mailman or talking about professional wrestling with his spouse. Writing contracts with school newspapers, various diaries, and other professional reports has brought him to the point where he can write about movies, shows, wrestling, and documentaries (which is a huge win in his eyes). If the stars align correctly, he’ll say that For Love Of The Game is the most productive baseball movie of all time.

After canceling a ton of shows, the CW has now gotten rid of the show I was excited about.
