The Springfield Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries and burglaries at the Lanphier High School site.
Within two weeks, three other people were arrested in connection with those crimes after being discovered at the scene late at night.
The SPD said that on Nov. 7 at 00:36 they arrested Ronald C. Harris, 55, and Manuel Rios, 56, both of Springfield, after reporting burglaries and burglaries at the location. The two men were discovered on Lot 3 of the soon-to-be-completed Lober-Nika Gymnasium, with Harris arrested on charges of burglary, possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of justice. Rios arrested for robbery. The men were released from the Sangamon County Jail the next day.
At 10:10 p. m. On Nov. 12, according to the SPD, officers were on patrol when they discovered Harris with Lee A. Clark, 58, of Springfield, rummaging through tools. Both were arrested and charged with burglary, burglary and trespassing and were taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

Each of them gave the impression in Sangamon County Circuit Court on Tuesday, and the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office obtained a motion for Harris to remain in custody. An initial hearing was set for 9 a. m. on Dec. 14. The SPD said Harris had been arrested on Dec. 12. times in the past six months for charges ranging from retail theft to trespassing and possession of controlled substances.
Clark was released Tuesday after appearing in court. However, he cannot have any contact with Lanphier. An initial hearing has been set for December 7 at 9 a. m.
Rios pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges on November 8 and was sentenced to one year of probation and 4 days in jail with credit for time served.
