Strictly Come Dancing is gearing up for a series year in 2024, as the BBC screen celebrates its 20th anniversary.
With that in mind, a major update is coming to the dance festival to commemorate this milestone, and will make the new season “the maximum available yet. “
In an announcement made through the broadcaster at the Edinburgh Television Festival, Strictly is expected to sign on for the first time.
The service will be available to the public on BBC iPlayer and on the red button, allowing viewers to watch the show with the inclusion of a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter.
In addition to the addition of BSL to this year’s series, fabrics and online resources will also be provided for others to sign.

The news comes three years after EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis was the first deaf celebrity to appear on the show, and she later won with Giovanni Pernice.
Love Island star Tasha Ghouri, who was born deaf, will be competing on this year’s celebrity list.
Kate Phillips, director of Unscripted, expressed her excitement at the prospect of introducing strictly live signing as an announcement made at the TV festival.
“Strictly Come Dancing has been at the forefront of inclusion and representation and I am very happy that our 20th anniversary series is the maximum available so far to our audience,” he said.
“The advent of live signing, as well as audio description and captioning, means there are more features than ever that can be combined to revel in the glitz and glamour of our Saturday and Sunday evening shows.
“This is a wonderful launching pad for our exciting new BSL season next year, which will feature special programming and online resources highlighting the BSL language. ”
Several Strictly enthusiasts praised the new update, with one named Emma writing on X: “It’s wonderful to see Strictly becoming more inclusive for the audience watching at home.
Another user named @TwellyWatcher shared, “It’s wonderful to see more inclusivity in #Strictly,” while @tvreality93 added, “Long ???. “
